2013 SANFL ROUND 10 PREVIEW
West Adelaide v Norwood (City Mazda Stadium) – Saturday 2.10pm
Match of The Round on ABC-TV, with top playing second. While Norwood have had West’s measure a number of times over the last 12 months, there is no doubt that the Bloods are getting much closer to the reigning premier and will fancy their chances here.
The main challenge for West is rebounding after coughing up a 27 point last term lead against North to go under. They went back into a defensive mode late, rather than the attacking mindset that has served them well this year. If Norwood start to apply a heavy press, Bloods coach Andrew Collins will work on his players patiently finding a way around it with pace and using the open spaces to advantage. The Redlegs, however, have proven very astute at dictating games to suit themselves in these situations and you sense that a real arm wrestle will ensue. In a matchup we will be very likely to see again in September or October, West to just prevail at home.
ABC-TV
Tip: West Adelaide 1-12
Port Adelaide v South Adelaide (Alberton) – Sunday 2.10pm
If either group has any thoughts whatsoever of finals action, they must grab the points here against evenly matched opposition. South temporarily shook the losing monkey from their back with a solid victory over Glenelg, finishing impressively in the second half. Led by many of the old names, such as Toby Stribling and Joel Cross, they kept their faint major round chances alive and left fans wondering where these efforts were each week.
The way that Port shut down North’s run and carry two weeks back clearly indicated that, when their self-belief is up, the Magpies can match it with most teams for long periods. The problem, however, is maintaining that when the opposition starts breaking the defensive press. They also need to continue going long and direct down the middle to attack, rather than chipping at length in the back half, allowing the opposition to wrest momentum. South have struggled at this venue over the years and there is also the real doubt on their ability to maintain the effort two weeks running/ Despite that, will still tip them without real confidence.

Tip: South Adelaide 13-24
Woodville/West Torrens v Sturt (Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval) – Sunday 2.10pm
Eagles coach Michael Godden was left mystified with his charges last week in a disappointing loss to Central. The way they appeared so flat from the opening bounce was especially concerning given the milestone games of the inspirational Luke Powell (200th) and Scott Lewis (100th), but they never looked in the contest at any real point.
Sturt are having their own troubles in holding the effort against higher credentialed opposition, and while they have an emerging list in the 5 to 50 game range, it will take time to find their feet at this level and not cough the ball up too readily. Against Norwood last week, they worked their way into trouble too often and may find a similar challenge here against a group desperate to atone for last week on home turf. Expect the Double Blues to mount a challenge at some point, but the class of the Eagles will get them home.

Tip: Woodville/West Torrens 25-36
Glenelg v North Adelaide (Gliderol Stadium) – Monday 2.10pm
The pressure continues to mount on the young Tigers, who fell away notably in the second half to be overrun by the Panthers last week. The converse at Prospect, however, where North roared home in the last 15 minutes to knock over West and push their claims in being considered genuine flag contenders.
While Glenelg is rebuilding, it’s still difficult to see their mindset at times. They appear to lack a genuine killer instinct and willingness to really force the opposition into changing their game style, allowing them to dictate games on their terms. This will play right into the hands of the Roosters here and it’s just too hard to see Glenelg pulling out enough to mount a serious challenge here.

Yes, so do I.
Someone with a deep understanding of the game combined with a good writing style.
Only fault is he follows the 'Legs.
