Re: 2013 Trial Games
Apologies to Bay supporters, but I obviously watched this from a West point of view and was pretty happy. I think Gelenelg were close to full strength, while West, as usual for a first trial, played without 6 or 7 of their main players, including Ferguson, Birss, Webb, Schmidt, Beech, Hartlett, Green and others.
West's defence had only nTippett for a half and Bricknell as first choice players.
Glenelg had about 5 first choice players who only plaed the second half.
Glenelg dominated the centre clearances most of the day and Hender did as he pleased in the first half.
For West, it was great to see Jimmy Ezard back to his MM winning form to be our best. Taite Silverlock was lively all day, while Tom Keough led the youngsters with 3 goals and a couple of great contested grabs at CHF.
Scott Bricknell was excellent all day, along with Rory Laird, with a host of young players showing promise.
It was a fairly evenly contested game, with Glenelg a little more poised and with a better skill level, with an impressive conversion percentage assisting the final margin.
Glenelg would be happy with their performance, I'd say, while West learned a lot about some new players.

Re: 2013 Trial Games
West v Glenelg it was as it should be just a trial, both teams rested players, other players played about a half, i thought Glenelg tried to go quick, long & direct most times, lapses in concentration & going into old habits reared its head from time to time especially the kick across goal & gifting opposition teams goals, i'd rather them kick long & wide because even if the opposition marks it they aren't having a shot at goal, i thought Mcneil looked a very good pick up on yesterdays form for us
