bays kicked the first goal of the match & that was it, we were woeful & lacked intensity for the majority of the match, James Watt (if the program is correct) kicked one of the best goals you'd ever see & about 300 saw it, Harder played very well up forward & i believe another club spoke to him last Monday, so Port will want to sign him quickly, Ebert was good but i feel he is wasted as a forward he should be in the middle & that's the position where he won a Magarey Medal

i saw first hand tonight the ''diving into the legs rule'' or whatever the title is, late in the game TENACE dived onto the ball in a courageous manner as it has been for a 130 years & a Port player was standing there like a statue, TENACE gives away the free kick, TENACE pleaded his case & i heard the umpire say ''i know where your coming from but we have to pay these as free kicks now'' this rule is not into the spirit of football

scores in trial games mean nothing however the intensity, commitment, skill level do & we were as i said woeful in the departments

You would think on probability, the player diving headfirst into a another standing player, would most times come off second best anyway.

So why does the standing player need protection?

All these rule changes of late, work against anyone who actually wants to bend over and pick the ball up.

I agree Bayman these bozo rule makers are changing the game so it just isn't in the spirit of football anymore.

In the Reserves game last week, a Sturt player was on his knees about to pick up the ball when a West player soccered it out of his hands.

in short growing up & getting coached we were all told the player going for the ball & having his head over the ball, playing in front etc will be protected/get the frees from the umpire & now it is basically the opposite.........courage not needed anymore it is just WRONG in my book

I was talking to a mate at least 5/6 years ago , probably more , the whole thing will come crashing down. It is so easy to see what is hapenning.

Dallas Hill may just be the surprise packet for the Dogs this year. Has improved out of sight over the summer. Tall, strong marking forward with a lovely left foot kick for goal. Almost certain to make his League debut next Thursday night.

Brock, the nephew of former Dogs and North player Rick Macgowan, is very much like his uncle. Short on leg speed but a great footy brain and very clean with his disposal. He will also play League next week, IMO.

Andy Collins and one of his assistants interested on-lookers last night as well.
