*shakes head*
This thread is for the times that make you just shake your head.
I will kick of proceedings with the Victor Harbor Fish and Chip shop owner who was interviewed on the TV on the weekend.
Given that his shop was within 50 metres of party central, you would expect him to throw open his doors 24 hrs and make an absolute killing would you not? Thousands of teens hankering for recovery breakfasts and lunches, stomach lining dinners, and late night deep fried snacks, you can hear the tills a ringing.
No, this bright spark decided he’d close the entire weekend. WADH.

Obviously didn't need the money G/N.
I was told recently that a fellow i know was standing next to a BBQ chatting away while the cook was rotating the snags etc... he didn't notice the full can of petrol sitting under the BBQ until the fumes ignited it and it set of like a type of flame thrower burning his arms and face, not bad enough for skin grafts but still bad enough. He's recovering ok now.

In defence of the man, he might value his mental sanity over any cash. I would.
I know I have turned down some good $$ and other jobs because of management or it didn't seem to fit. I must be chasing down the wrong jobs though because I keep failing to win them or sustain them for a long period of time.
I used to complain that SA never would progress anywhere, but now living in Tassie, you guys are doing a fairly good job in comparison!

Not sure if this belongs on this particular thread, but nevertheless, thought this was worth a mention.

What the hell is wrong with people out there..

(above link contains video that shows glassing)
There has always been violence in society, and more than likely statistics show that crime is currently down, but regardless, its bewildering why people have to act like this.

Re: *shakes head*
Adelaide is turning into a real violent society at the moment.
Statistics show crime might be down but per capita in Australia we are right up at the top of that pyrimid.
What scares me is the youth of today 13 to 21 year old doing alot of the violent crimes than they did a few years ago.
Not cool at all.

Families Minister Jenny Macklin who earns $6,231 a week claims she could live on the dole.

I doubt she would say "no I couldn't live on the dole", because then the welfare sector would jump up and down even more.
She probably should have deflected the question, but then again, she would have been criticised for not giving a straight answer.

I don't see anything wrong with her saying yes she could live on the dole (even though we all know that's probably very far from the truth) what is 'wrong' though is when the transcript from her office says 'inaudible' - we all heard it...lol.

i remember us all saying ''only in America'' sadly we are getting as bad if not even worse than the Yanks........perhaps if the justice system issued stronger penalties rather than the 'slap on the wrist' that seems to happen more & more we'd be a better society & while i don't condone chopping off of hands we don't see much if any stealing in the countries that have harsh penalties like that & heaven forbid but perhaps rapists & child molesters should have there 'members' chopped off in those circumstances
my father keeps saying about the 'good old days' meaning the 1950's & 1960's.......i keep thinking the good old days are the 1970's & 1980's..............so surely they wont be saying this era is the ''good old days'' in another 20 to 30 years, if so i'll be happy to be nearing the end of my life if it hadn't finished already

What's the deal with all these complaints about hot buses? Are people really that soft these days?
Hell, when I was at uni (only 15 years ago) you were bloody lucky if you managed to score a bus with air conditioning. Sitting on baking hot vinyl on a bus built in the 60's was par for the course.
Now it's a big enough issue for the transport union to get involved apparently. I can't believe it's the major headline in this state. Talk about first world problems.

Agreed Gingernuts.
The non-airconditioned buses they're referring to (the ex O-Bahn Mercedes O305's) were the ones I used to catch home from school back in the day - and they were just as hot back then! Never heard a complaint back then.
Also, some of those buses go to North Adelaide - literally around the corner, before you're back on an air-conditioned train anyway.
Also, besides these ex O-Bahn buses, all of the other buses are air-conditioned, including several buses that are so new the Adelaide Metro livery hasn't even gone on them!

When I was a kid
Never heard of air-conditioning, the bus was h.o.t., and full of cigarette smoke.
Didn't do me any harm....cough, cough....

Remember that was 15 or 20 years ago.
It's hotter now due to climate change.
We need air conditioning to battle that as the world will get warmer ......
So we are being told !!!!!!

i don't believe in 'global warming' but i do think we get more hot days over 40 than we did 20 years ago, or maybe i'm just softer these days, thankfully i'm on holidays but i was told that our shop (drycleaning shop) was 58 degrees last Friday & i believe it because i know how hot it is in there on hot days when i'm at work

i remember 25-30 years ago & was told that my generation has it so soft it isn't funny, with lines like how could/would you cope with either of the World Wars, the Depression, no Air Conditioning & so forth........so perhaps it is us that's made them softer !!
