This is the time of the year when there's so much to read about player movements and all things SANFL. The problem is that so much of it is total fiction and a lot of it is prejudiced opinion.

On this thread, we'll try to sort the wheat from the chaff and give our best take on whether a rumour is fact, fiction or if we don't know, we'll say so. We'll try to give the facts, wherever we can.

Talking Footy SA can be trusted to get it right. When you read elsewhere that Andy Collins was leaving, you heard the facts here well before his re-appointment was announced. Our poster 'eartothe ground' has close to a 100% record with his rumours and is a must-read.

So, we'll look at rumours posted as they appear anywhere and give some facts wherever we can. Keep posting in the 'Rumours' thread and we'll get to them.

An SANFL club worked for several weeks to convince a Magarey Medallist to join them, only to find out the coach wasn't keen on the player.

We were asked whether Ben MacReadie was likely to be with the Eagles next season.

At this stage, we would say no.

Which current SAAFL sides are in discussion with the AFC about entering the SANFL Reserves as their representative side? Rumour has it that more than just one club are involved in the discussions.. Rumour also has it that the Reserves comp is suggested to be temporary only until sides get used to it and the club is admitted to the league.

That rumour doesn't make sense. It can't be a rumour that the Reserves comp will be temporary until a later date. That's a decision that has to be made by the SANFL clubs; they can't already have made that decision as rumoured.
And if the AFC wanted a team in the SANFL Reserves, how does going via the SAAFL help them? It still has to be agreed to by a majority of the SANFL clubs.
