Well done Ramsey given his marching orders by Basset this year.Play league at the eagles a few weeks latter!!

I watched the first half of the Eagles v North game last week. The Eagles were terrific, although North were well off the pace, so it was hard to line up the form.

I know nothing about Rae, but you'd presume Port will dominate the ruck, but perhaps the Eagles on-ballers will get enough of the footy to cause some damage.

The Eagles might jusdt have found the confidence to win such a vital game for them.

Micky, what can you tell us about Rae?

Presumably Grieger will ruck a fair bit too.

Ruckman Jarred Redden has been dropped as has John McArthy, who is aligned to the Eagles and will play his 1st SANFL game...

I hope Port win, because if they don't, I think the Eagles will have momentum to potentially carry them through to the grand final and they will be extremely dangerous opponents in September.

What happened to "one club" and all that? Maybe they think McCarthy will turn it over enough to help the Magpies win.

Gday Red and Black .Second week Rae has been picked .Plays at FF had 11 shots last week in the sceonds at goal kicked 7.3 and 1 out on the full .think he is 26 played state footy for Tassie played last year in the amo's

I would have thought that as well with Meiklejohn but with Redden dropped from the Power, James wont have it as easy as perhaps he thought he would have when Parry was suspended...

Meiklejohn will have too much class for Redden at this stage of Redden's career (imho)

Two ruckmen in front for what 98/99% of the game .They couldnt quite get away from the Eagles!!
Who'd be an Eagles fan, Parry reported nd outed for 4 weeks no ruckman.Trailing98/99% of the game .No Grocke No grufidea before 1/2 time down to 1 player on the bench!!
Port all over the eagles 3rd term.
Last term well port gets what 4 goals up eagles out on their feet .Suddenly its 3 down 2 down 1 down crowd is making noise eagles get the lead .Port retakes the lead game over .No i more run i more 50 entry 1 last kick at goal

19 fit players no known key forward no ruckman and still they win

And to the loud mouth bad tempered loser who harrassed me to my car you still lost dirtbag to 19 fit men!!

So you had 25 men then a couple of umpire helped goals in the first half .
You guys should have buried the Eagles booney .Really mate cant blame the umpires when your "RUCKMEN" resting in the forward line go flat handed for uncontested marks time and again droped the ball in the square.and the eagles backmen ran it out to our 50 then it would come back and then go out over and over .
Shocking game really .Only thing that came out of the day was you dont stop until that siren sounds .

Just had a thought. Was the last quarter similar to the last quarter of the 1996 Preliminary Final with Port this time on the back foot? Norwood did get a 2-3 goal lead in the last quarter of that PF; Port come back and get the goal from a free just before the siren.

Just sayin' because it might be good that you benefit from supposedly the wrong end of the decisions, but then it aint so good when you don't benefit from them.

I noticed that Port got about 5 goals from free kicks out of the first 7. That may be fine, they may all be there.
However, the less goals that are scored in matches, the more that "goals from frees" become important. Like soccer - re. Quarter Final 2006 between Australia and Italy; this years A-League Final, low scoring really brings out the controversy when a contentious decision is made, especially at the end of the match.
