Re: SANFL Statement = Essendon
Further to the above post, I've just read that some of the aggrieved parties are considering applying for an immediate injunction, which would leave the banned players free to play in the interim.

Flag No.10 wrote:So if the banned Essendon players decide to appeal the CAS decision, is the ban set aside pending the appeal? Obviously this would render the top-up players superfluous and create yet another debacle.
The CAS decision was the appeal, last year the players were provisionally suspended ( that's why Petrenko et al played NAB Cup 2015 ) by WADA and the appeal was heard by CAS. So there is no more avenue to appeal.

Yes, it would. In essence, the injunction is based on the AFL / ASADA making changes to the anti-doping policy while the CAS appeal was taking place. They moved the goal posts during the match.

This makes no sense, none whatsoever.
I asked lachlan ( and anyone else ) who has evidence to prove ( not just scuttlebutt ) that Summerton is "on the take" over and above his $400 per week.
Nobody has come forward with anything, nothing of substance. So I'm saying if you go down that path, claiming you "know" that's the case, then I think you're full of ****.

According to Peter Gordon they have 30 days from the handing down of the decision to lodge an appeal with the Swiss Federal Tribunal.

I see on the Eagles forum someone has posted that Nick O'Brien has gone back to train with Essendon in the hope of being picked up, but will return to WWT if not.

Have any of the SANFL clubs actually been notified yet of players training at Essendon? I have read recruits like Zac O'Brien, Nic O'Brien and Brodie Martin are in the mix

What a mess an injunction will make to preparations for Essendon and to a lesser extent Port, Dogs and Demons.
I read that Neil Balme has come out an said that the AFL should discontinue its following of the WADA code and promote its own. He cites the NBA and NFL as 2 high profile sports that do likewise.
Is this a feasible option for the AFL? Particularly if they are moving the goal posts on their own position with ASADA.
Given the hindsight the AFL now has, I am sure they wouldn't tackle their case for the hearing and penalising of Essendon the same way again. The backroom deals / discussion made that process more leaky than a roof made of chicken wire.

Balme, you're kidding.
'We don't want to be in WADA in case they suspend any of our players who are caught'.

I don't have emails to prove it, I never said I did, such is your lack of understanding of the matter, perhaps you need to re read the thread.
I've asked anyone ( lachlan firstly ) with proof to email it to me, I'll provide an address to send it to, I don't expect anyone to openly post anything that they are not comfortable doing so, I've not had anyone come forward with anything other than hearsay.

Essendon fined $200,000.00 for occ health, the fine could have been up to $600,000.00 but the judge was lenient given the fact the AFL fined them $2,000,000.00.................which i query how can the AFL fine one of their own clubs when it appears they may've known more about it in the first place

I'm assured by people who were at Sturt training last night, that Brodie Martin was there and training strongly.goddy11 wrote:Have any of the SANFL clubs actually been notified yet of players training at Essendon? I have read recruits like Zac O'Brien, Nic O'Brien and Brodie Martin are in the mix

Neither, Micky, just my feeling and I haven't heard of any club being contacted by Essendon.
