Westies play South,Norwood and Port in a three week block commencing from round 8.
Those three matches are the acid test for us.

Ive rated Westies for the last 3 years, finally when I thought they might struggle they are by all accounts playing both attractive and effective footy. From the outside it looks as though they have the right ingredients in terms of personnel, experienced leaders and high quality youth. I'm actually looking forward to seeing them in action.

Definately have surprised me, look certainties almost for finals but we all know Mickan has no trouble getting sides to finals. I wonder what Mr Collins would be thinking if he was watching, they seem to be a far more attacking side

Possible that we (WAFC)will lose 3-4 players to the U8's Carnival (Including a TRIAL GAME NEXT WEEK ??????) - CRAZY to think players should be demoted to play a representative carnival (AFL Redruiters junket) when they are playing league for premiership points - AFL recruiters would or should all ready know that these 16-17 year olds are playing league against men and making impacts on games are draftable.... This statement applies to all 8 of our SANFL clubs that contribute lots of $$$$ to our metro and country zones with only a 50K payment a year no matter how many you now lose in a draft while the AFL clubs put bugger all into SA Football game development.

My whine for the week!

The four kids from the U18 2014 premiership squad have made a huge positive impact on the league side. I didnt think the day would come where my side would be effected by U18 carnivals by having so many home and zoned players - I recall the 80's where it was hard to defend the tag of being a defacto interstate club with few if any local products in the league side.

I'd say he would be very happy, especially with the emergence of so many good, young players from the Under 18 Centre of Excellence he had so much to do with. Colo took us from rock bottom to a 2nd and 3rd and laid a solid foundation of players to work with. I think generally only people within Westies know what a positive influence on our club in so many ways.

Now Mark Mickan is doing a great job with his game plan and with the skill of the emerging juniors.

Their willingness to run and carry, play on at all cost and consistently hit targets is alarmingly good. Amongst all the ridiculous stats from today's game, 21 running bounces to 1 and over 50 more receives speaks volume.

Really looking forward to our Friday night clash in just over a week's time.

As Lee mentioned in the West v Glenelg game thread, the next 3 weeks will be a real test for the Bloods with South, Norwood and Port coming up and then the Eagles in Round 12, as well...

Certainly the real deal and looking likely for a finals berth but still a little way to go and some tough games coming up for them...

One thing that is almost certain is the Bloods look like they will have a new member in 2016 thanks to a bet with Lee that I'm looking likely to lose Wink

As I'd suspected, they are indeed the real deal.

after todays Qualifying final, they are one step in a 3 step process to prove it, but after looking at todays' match you'd have to say they certainly are

Have to agree with you there Bayman, they got their game up and going today and played a really high quality match all the makings of a great finals series anyway!

NO worries, Phil, you've been a good sport about it.

I thought it was a sure thing all season, but your Doggies were terrific pushing it to a Prelim Final.
