A few players picked on reputation not form. I suspect there may be a few additions yet.

There are different types of ruckmen .. Hit-outs are Bauldy's biggest strength and he has sublime ground level skills for a big bloke, but he's woeful overhead and struggles against bigger bodies. The coaching group probably prefer the Kurtze types who are more physically imposing and can take a catch.

Re: State Squad Announced
In my observation of Kurtze, he gets lots of taps too, but taking marks and physically imposing isn't what I have generally seen of him.
It sounds more like they are similar types.

Probably poor choice of words on my behalf .. Not physically imposing as such, like an enforcer, just more physical in a contest

Re: State Squad Announced
So Baulderstone has 30+ hit outs and 20 plus possessions and doesn't have an impact on the game, tell me if Kurtze can do that every game like Bauldy

For the ages
21 Persinos
22 Schiller
23 Hansen + Keough
No teenagers
4 players in a 31 man squad that are below 24 years old

Want to point out where I said he has no impact? Im saying they're different types of players who play the same position. And a coach will have his own preference as to how he wants it played.

Re: State Squad Announced
I don't know about Bauldy much, but Kurtze does need to be more effective around the ground, rather than just in the ruck contests.
He contests but maybe a criticism is he doesn't hold the grabs quite enough.

He does, actually. Kurtze regularly has 40+ hitouts and, as mentioned above, probably has more upside around the ground and in the air...
The rationale from Stephen Rowe was that they don't want to take two big ruckman over to Perth because of the wider expanses of Lathlain Park. Brady Dawe in the squad also to not only be the support ruckman but to use his prowess and freakish athleticism around the ground and in attack...
I was surprised to initially not see Bauldy in the squad, but can understand now...
