2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
An initial squad of 33 has been picked, with some pretty good players in the initial group...

Will be interesting to see who makes the final 22...

After two rounds a state team announced, little early IMO.
Does look like a good squad though

Good looking side, R&B, but I wouldn't think Paul Thomas will play forward pocket...
I'd probably have him on the wing or half back flank...

It is only an initial squad and, like last year, players can still be added and omitted, should form warrant it...

He doesn't make it to start on a back flank for me.
The problem is there are so many rotations, so perhaps start Goldsworthy in a forward pocket and Thomas coming off interchange for midfiled or back flank rotation?

Fair enough. I think your defensive half might be a little top heavy, but that will also depend on the opposition and how they match up.

Re: 2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
Daniel Wise...he would be about 33 now I reckon.
Played 39 matches for us between 2000 and 2004, then went to North and played 21 matches in 2005

Re: 2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
It should come as no surprise, especially after his Bob Quinn Medal win, that Norwood's Matt Suckling has been added to the State Squad.

Re: 2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
I see the SANFL is trying to talk up this complete waste of time.
http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2019/
How about "Since when has NEAFL been a state and who cares anyway?"
I wonder when the message will filter through to the rulers of West Lakes, that the whole concept of interstate football is dead and buried?

Its quite embarassing IMO playing nobodies from nowhere that we have heard of and calling it a "State Game" Derr......... I hear we are playing the B Grade form woop woop next year, can't wait.
On a more serious note, if the people who run the SANFL can't get a better standard of opposition to play in these State Games then why bother.

Re: 2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
Let me say that I used to enjoy watching State Games back when they were real, because it was an opportunity to see the best players in the land strut their stuff. Now I can turn on the TV any weekend and watch them in the AFL, which is my point. Demetriou has made it clear on a number of occasions, that the AFL don't support the concept and we'll never see the best players in that context again. Therefore it's dead and buried. Last years game between SA and WA attracted a mere 2,843 people to Glenelg Oval. How many I wonder will bother to go to Richmond next week to watch a team of nobodies, supplemented (If that's the right word) by a few blokes who once played league in Adelaide, before they retired to Darwin or the Gold Coast or wherever? It's just a wasted weekend and a pointless disruption to the domestic competition IMO. Sorry if I might upset some other posters, but it's the way I see it.

Fair call, CC.
I personally like the concept watching the best SANFL players combine (hopefully without interference from the clubs), but I do respect how others may not, as you have indicated with your post above.

Stephen Rowe, SANFL Chariman of Selecors, revelaed on RPH Adelaide tonight, that Central's Paul Thomas will be appointed as Captain of the side, while Eagles wingman Luke Jarrad will be Vice Captain...
It was a good chat with Rowey...

Re: 2013 SANFL 'West End' State Squad
well thanks to BP for giving out the wrong number (again) so i scored tickets on the 5rph league teams show, so i'll be heading to Richmond to see the contest, this is a NO WIN MATCH for the SANFL if we win we're supposed to win & if we lose we'll be a laughing stock & will have no real claim of saying we're the best anymore
