Week 2 Trials - Page 2 Empty Re: Week 2 Trials

Post by Lee Sat Mar 15, 2014 3:21 pm

Earlier today, the Eagles and West played a Reserves trial. For Eagles fans, grocke played the first half and lookrd in good nick.

West won a fairly even game by about 4 goals, roughly 12.10 to 7.16.

Good effort by a very young West team. Adam Hartlett dominated (16 possessions in the 1st quarter).

Last night West had a big win over tHe Sturt Under 18's, but I don't know how strong a side Sturt picked.

i thought the intensity at the start of the game was very good from both teams, the game itself was pretty scrappy, our skills with both hand & foot was ordinary at best, under pressure we went back to auto pilot by ''playing safe footy'' & going short way way too often, at least today i could see at times a game plan & what was trying to be established so it will take time to gel, i don't know what happened from about 10 minutes into the third term as May_Z & i left to get to Globe Derby so we just beat the rain by leaving early & got to Globe Derby in time to back the first winner at 12/1 was silly silly odds in a hard race but we gratefully received the ca$h Cool Cool

Week 2 Trials - Page 2 Empty Re: Week 2 Trials

Post by Wongdo Mon Mar 17, 2014 12:25 pm

Watched both League and Reserves and thought it fair to say that the two sides were poles apart where match conditioning was concerned. Centrals looked like a team that had played a lot of Footy whereas Glenelg looked like this was their first real trial. Not sure what was going through Kirkby's mind in the third (nothing riding on the game so why put someone down behind play - absolutely stupid). All up thought the 4 No. Central recruits on show went well, Gillbee, Retzlaff, Hoskin and Stephenson. Doggies back line was very strong and rebounded well. Waldhuter was agressive and used the ball well with Hayden, Edmead and Matt White playing well down back. Thomas, Williams, Goodrem and the Schiller boys looked sharp. For Glenelg I thought Thorp looked imposing, Kirkby moved well, Joseph worked really hard. Think there's a lot of upside to the Bays.
