Towards the top, or for the drop?
OK, the season is getting closer, so who will be the improvers and who will struggle?
Where will Adelaide and Port finish?
For me, Glenelg and Eagles to improve, Central to drop.
Norwood to stay up there, while they aren't hit with injuries.
Port to be up there, Adelaide to start well, then fade.

I'm too biased, BP
Being totally unbiased, I'd place them somewhere between1st and 1st.

Like all clubs this year more than ever, they will need a good run with injury, particularly with key position players. But West have an unrivalled onball division in my opinion and they have exceptional experience in recent seasons. One thing that would make life easier for them would be for the midfield to hit their targets more often when under pressure, but I think they are now ready to take that step.

Hopefully a tweak of the gameplan we will see some free flowing, high scoring football. Recruits Kaine Stevens and Richard Newell could end up near the best of all the new SANFL recruits

In no particular order :
Norwood, North and Eagles to be the main contenders.
Port, West, Central and Glenelg fight out for two spots in the 5.
South, Sturt and Adelaide round out the bottom 3.

I must say I'm a bit surprised that so many posters have written Sturt off. Even one Sturt supporter. While I don't see us among the top 3 sides. And to be honest, it's such a wide open season, that I couldn't even guess who they might be. We're quietly confident we can improve a couple more spots on last season. We've got a pretty useful playing squad and a stable, reasonably experienced, leadership group and coaching panel. Time will tell, of course, but there's certainly no doom or gloom at Unley right now.

CC I think you have every right to be optimistic. Whilst I know I selected Sturt to fail in a sense of ladder placing I really don't have a whole lot of faith in my selections given the unprecedented change in teams and personnel within the competition. I do believe Sturt have probably done a good job of fast tracking a lot of their younger talent in recent years, particularly 2013. In what I expect to be a tight season I'm just not sure if the Blues have replaced enough of the quality they have lost. That question mark hovers over most of last years 9 clubs also though.

Hated doing it too. We look to have improved on last year with some decent recruits but so have all teams. I reckon it's gonna be a cracker of a season and so even. Hope I'm way off the mark, just can't see who is going to drop alot
Re: Towards the top, or for the drop?
I think this is potentially the most even the competition has looked at this stage of the season for a long time.
That's without the unknowns of the 2 new teams.
I think Adelaide will be very strong early, but Port will have more depth, given the circumstances relating to their top-up players.

Re: Towards the top, or for the drop?
There's no doubt that Sturt will rise or fall, on whether the group of young players who've been in the senior squad for a couple of years now, and have had a bit of league experience, can step up to the next level. Players like Jack Stephens, Levi Krause, Christian Calabrese, Ziggy Vitkunas, Matt Crocker, Ben Hansen, Guy Page, Tom Harms. They've all shown touches of class at times. Now without the AFL players, this becomes the year we have to give them a real chance, and see if they've got what it takes. I'm one of those supporters who, over the years, have always enjoyed watching the next batch of young ones come along. However we go, this promises to be one of the more interesting seasons for a long while.

I think it is who you have lost that is my concern for Sturt.
Tambling, Jaensch, Graham, Kerridge, Martin, Riley, Atkins, Hombsch, McIntyre and Crane are big losses for you to cover. Not sure the recruits can cover for them and as you were closer to he bottom then the top ypu will need a lot of improvement from the rest of the group.

Fair point, UH, although Tambling will still be with Sturt.
