Re: The Pope resigns
Pretty big news this morning. First pope in 600 years to resign. Normally you're a pope till your dead - that last one carried on 'weekend at bernies' style for years.
I'm not a Catholic, but I do enjoy the historical significance of events like this. I visited Vatican City a couple of years back also so I can picture all the cardinals getting locked away in the Sistine Chapel around their little pot belly stove for deliberations.

I note Joe Hockey has plopped his opinion into it this morning questioning The Pope's decision in the face 600 years of tradition.
Joe, what the hell has it got to do with the Liberal Party or Australian Politics? Maybe the Vatican is donating to the Liberal Party these days.

I saw this Pope twice, once at a Vatican audience and once at Fatima (no, not with Greg Ritchie).
No, I'm not Catholic either.
Chambo, perhaps Mr Abbott might be having a tilt at the Papal election?

Re: The Pope resigns
It is widely believed that the last pope of the Catholic Church will succeed Pope Benedict XVI. Many people believe that we are in "the end times." And the signs are all around us. According to the bible the Catholic Church was to have 112 Popes before the end of the world, no 111 just resigned.

I remember watching shows about 20 years ago based on Nostradamus's predictions.
None that I remember have happened, of course.

What about one of his prophecies ... "And the Great City will burn" ... 9/11 maybe?

Re: The Pope resigns
I'd like to read the exact quote, FB, for two reasons.
One is to see whether it's correctly interpreted.
The second is what all these similar things rely on. That is, that people search for an appropriate answer to fit the prediction.**
For example, I predict (in heavily disguised verse) that famine will blight the great continent. Fire and flood will blight the land. The great leader will come from the East and lead the faithful to glory.
I reckon I could find any number of things to fit that prediction.
** That prediction had to come true, unless there is never a major fire in a big city.

And the odds are out for the next Pope, including this interesting one:
Cardinal Pell + Richmond 2013 Premiership - $1001

Century 6, Quatrain 97
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude,
Fire approaches the great new city
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans.
New York City, it is found at exactly 40 degrees, 42 minutes, 51 seconds north latitude. What's a couple of degree's between friends, fairly close don't you think?.

He also quoted some where...
"The red blood will flow back from the black darkness and he shall again rise to be the almighty at Latitude: -34.941 Longitude -138.568".

Lovely, exactly what I meant.
You're fitting an answer to fit the prediction and of course, ignoring the errors and omissions
Line 1: What's a few degrees between friends, indeed.
Great new city - oh, that must be NEW York, not a new city, isn't he clever
A huge, scattered flame - not quite, but we'll ignore that......
From the Normans!!! Oh, one of the El Quaida people had a brother who knows two people called NORMAN.
QED, end of argument, whoever claims victory

Forgot to add that I have more faith in Pell becoming Pope than Richmond winning the flag.
