Re: Round 20 LIVE scores
Well done to Norwood, South, umpires and officials who stood for a minutes silence in tribute to the passing of former Legs and Crows club doctor Brian Sando...

Re: Round 20 LIVE scores
Pity LifeFM didn't show the same respect and talked over the tribute and silence.
If radio stations can observe a 2 minute silence on Rememberance Day there's no reason to be disrespectful tonight.

The only reason I mentioned it waddyamean, is because it is not something you usually see during a minor round game (excluding ANZAC Day of course, as you mentioned). Plenty of good club people pass away but don't have a minutes silence for each one. Teams will just wear the nblack armbands as a mark of respect (as Norwood are tonight) but I felt it necessary to mentioned it tonight because it was a little unique and thought it was very good of South Adelaide to be involved as well. They have no connection to Dr Sando and could have continued on with their warm up.

Because with Rememberance Day, it is well know in advance that the silence will occur on air and have advertised this during the week earlier. Tonight was slightly different bevcause we only realised at the last minute what was occuring and a minute's silence on air is not good if people weren't made aware of it in advance. If we did have silence and you tuned in on the net to hear nothing, you would think there was an issue and we were off air. We just wanted to avoid that for any listeners just tuning in.

No worries JAS, point taken. It's been done now, nothing we can do about it. Apologies to yourself and anyone else that wasn't pleased...

The club announced on Moday it would be paying a tribute at the game...wouldn't have been too difficult to contact them and find out what form it would take or did you assume that no one outside the ground wanted to pay their respects too.

It's not just Rememberance Day...other sports eg soccer and rugby often have a minutes silence and that includes radio coverage.

Just to clarify for JAS, there wasn't actually a minute's silence, I mistook what was going on out there whilst being involved in the pre-game show. The ground announcer was talking about Dr Sando and mentioning some of his achievements. We were unable to take a feed from the in ground PA system so had to talk to avoid that on air silence (or at least muffled PA announcer talking in the background)
Yes we know and it wasn't muffled. Had you all kept quiet we could have clearly heard what was said over the mic.

Yeah, but we weren't to know for certain that the levels of the ground announcer could be heard. Anyway, as I said earlier, can't do anything about it now, let's get back to the game shall we...
