Re: Jockey Challenges
I know I was like
I sent a message to the JC gods about Boss
It must have paid off - missing on a very short favourite in the last race

Bad day at the JC office...lol.
Worse for you I imagine FS - missing out by half a point is excruciating.

Any chance of a loan, A Mum?
I'm a bit short again this week and you seem to have a regular income from this

Re: Jockey Challenges
Good luck everyone.
One question, though.
Why do you back those whose odds seem 'overs'?
Is someone who probably won't win a better value loser if they're 'overs'?

Re: Jockey Challenges
Speaking for myself R&B and just my perception over the past 12 months - I think overs pay more often than not than favourites.
I don't mind losing if I take someone at odds - but I'd be mighty upset if I took someone paying say $1-40 and they lost..lol.
Take yesterday for example - winning on a $41 shot - would take a lot of 'favourites' to make up that kind of win.
But that's just me

Re: Jockey Challenges
I look for overs R&B they wont win alot but if the bet is" a value bet " you hopefully will come out in front in the long run or maybe not too far behind
my bet today on advulla was at $21 with with unibet just before the first race, other betting agencies had him between $10 and $12 , the reason being he was on the fav and it had tightened in the market , unibet were slow so I took the $21 on what was probably a 15 to 1 chance
Ward the market fav will win today but if im winning 1 out of 15 at $21 to 1 Im happy
Hope that makes some sense

Re: Jockey Challenges
Thanks, yes, I understand the 'value' aspect, but I suppose my point is that a 15/1 shot has about a 1 in 16 (?) chance of winning. That is, it's a roughie.
If it's at 20/1, it's still a roughie and I think it's a false measure to place a bet on that reasoning.
I can see a small value in a short priced horse being 'overs', but its chances are the same whatever the price.
