Kerls Empty Kerls

Post by Chambo Off To Work We Go Thu Jun 30, 2022 8:26 pm

It would be remiss not to let today go by without a tribute to the bloke who in my lifetime is probably the most influential football icon in SA. There are a number of them; Jack Oatey, Fos Williams, Jack Cahill among others, but Kerls was very well known across the border and arguably the bloke who Victorians most respected from SA.

Knuckles was always feared and revered at the same time by the footy public.

I am probably not qualified to comment on him at close quarters, but the stories about him are always entertaining when recounted by the various footy people out there.

KG was openly sobbing when interviewed tonight.
I heard comments and interviews today from Bruce McAvaney, David Parkin, Wayne Jackson and Mark Ricciuto and they were all so unanimous in their praise for what the King stood for and meant to SA sport.

RIP Kerls.

Thanks Chambo.

I'll add some stories in a few days when the dust settles.

Still in shock.

The king is dead..long live the king

Vale Neil Kerley

On a personal note, with him coming to Glenelg & turning Glenelg into a great side & one of the “big four” gave me immense joy & happiness growing up despite a few hiccups in grand finals
