Admin tips for Round 3
And Friday night sees a couple of games. First up, last year's premiers versus the perennial premiership favourites.
Pretty hard to see the Eagles dropping this one, even at Unley. We're yet to be convinced about Sturt this year. Both teams seem to still have their minds on the last game at Adelaide Oval last year, so the Eagles have a big motivation to win this. Jack Hayes gives them another attacking option and Bomber Borholm played one of his very best games last week. Sturt will get better, but the Eags are looking ominous, so.........
Eagles by 27 points.
West v Norwood
West by 100 points
After a reasonable first round performance, the Bloods are at home to the 'Legs and look to have the job in front of them. They have a ruck and clearance problem and a midfield missing Schmidt and Porplyzia. Future No 1 draft pick, Izak Rankine is playing aMicky Mouse important AFL Academy game in NZ and Daniel Webb is out injured. Apart from that, they're in good shape. We've over-rated Norwood so far, but they look to have West covered in most aspects - ruck, on-ball and key positions. It would be a shock to see them lose here, so.......
Norwood by 43 points.
South v Glenelg
The Bays are on fire! The glorious uncertainty of football has the Admin of TFSA relieved that the $100 prize for tipping the ladder might take some doing already. The Bays on-field efforts are lifting some of the gloom at Glenelg. Josh Scott is one of the better players in the SANFL and he's backed up by Liam McBean, a 202cm crumbing player who kicks goals and a host of small forwards. The Panthers need this one and will make it close, but they look honest, but a bit undermanned so far.
Glenelg by 11 points
Port v North
North have also surprised, with a couple of tidy performances, but Port at Alberton is always hard. The Maggies were given a wake-up call in Round 1 by a rampant Glenelg, but just got the bikkies in a quality game at the Parade. Ex-Magpie Barns is looking a dangerous forward, but Port look a bit better here.
Port by 3. No, bugger it, make that by 4. (Points).
Central v Adelaide
The Ponderosa won't be happy if Central don't win this. Well, technically, the Ponderosa is a ground and presumably doesn't have emotions, so the spectators at the Ponderosa won't be happy with a loss. Adelaide's chances depend on how many top-up players they have and Central will get plenty of footy from their midfielders. We presume Adelaide will be favourites, but this might be the 'upset' result.
The Ponderosa spectators to come away happy with a 9 point win.
