Round 1 Fixture
I notice the following matches are on for West vs South at the two venues,
Sat Mar 24th 2:10pm U18's West vs South @ Richmond,
Sat Mar 24th Reserves 4:25pm South vs West @ Noarlunga
Sat Mar 24th League 7:10pm South vs West @ Noarlunga
Sun Mar 25th U16's 11:40am West vs South @ Richmond
Just wondering why they cant use the same venue for all four games on the same day? If they are happy enough to start the U/16's game on the Sunday at 11:40am, what difference does it make to have it at 11:40am on the Saturday at Noarlunga? Its the first round of the season, the ground is in very very good condition as there is no cricket pitch on it.
Even to simply move the U/18s game to the same venue means people can all be in the one place, the Reserves coaching staff can watch the U/18 lads in game time which is always a far better marker than training drills. Volunteers can go to the one venue on one day instead of two and so on.
Thoughts?

Re: Round 1 Fixture
If you play 3 games of footy on the same ground before the main showcase, then the ground won't be in very, very good condition - rather the league game may resemble pigs in mud!

There has been all four games on the same ground and day before, it was between the Eagles and Central at Elizabeth Oval a couple years ago.

Re: Round 1 Fixture
On a dry day it shouldn't pose a problem, 3 games on the one oval is played now and then, last season we had about 3 games on the one day. Can't remember 4 though.

Re: Round 1 Fixture
Glenelg hosted Sturt in all 4 grades in Round 1 about 2009 I think.
U16s kicked off about sunrise Seriously though, The kids report time was about 7.30am for the match which started about 9am
It's too long a day for the ground staff, and too early a day for the people involved in the junior teams.
