Agree, can't see the attraction of either Pods or Henderson.

Pods as a one year stop gap would be alright. Cant see Jenkins or Walker coming back and going 100% from the get go so a strong marking forward would be a bonus. He would have to draw the best big defender so that eases the pressure on Lynch and Johnston.

Yeah I tend to agree. He is a big unit and hard to stop the way he crashes packs.
Let's face it Geelong got to the top 4 with Pods and a non-functional Hawkins.
Pods earns his money the way he plays. As a 1 year contract it is no long term commitment that Adelaide would be risking. 1 year to get them over the hump seems to fit the bill to me.
With respect to Lynch and Johnston, neither has had the same experience or productivity as Pods as yet and they still need to find their feet.

True. They'd have the room on the list to give him a spot as they are a couple of draft picks shy this year.
At worst he would be a handy 'teacher' for the youngsters developing in the new seconds outfit.

Big talk about Bernie Vince testing the market to see what's on offer.
I like Bernie, he's seems like a good young SA country lad, supported the Crows all his life. He's done some great things for Adelaide, and when he's on he has wonderful skills. He's also a past club champion of course.
For all that though, he is now 28 and IMO has never reached the 'elite' status he seemed destined for after he won the club champion a few years back.
He is inconsistent, and hasn't changed a game off his own boot for a good couple of years.
A move now could be perfect timing for both parties. Adelaide get something while he still has value (next year he is a free agent), and Bernie gets a chance to start somewhere fresh and perhaps get some more out of himself before his career is finished.
I would be sad to see him go if it eventuates, but that's the reality of modern football is seems.

Gee, didn't realise he was that old. Time flies i guess.
I suspect some of his influence since the club champ win has been curtailed a bit by the form of Thompson, Dangerfield, Sloan and one or two others over this period. Still I guess it is his job to play as well as them to gain status.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Yea I must admit I was suprised to see his age as well, I guess he just looks younger in general.
One thing is for sure - he needs to change something whether that be at Adelaide or elsewhere, otherwise his career is destined to be one of unfulfilled potential IMO.

He'll love it in Melbourne. He'll be on The Footy Show every 3rd week.
Re: Crows & Power 13/14 Off Season
From the outside it looks a bit like he hasn't really bought into Sanderson's regime/game plan. I have a feeling he was a bit of a Neil Craig fan.

Re: Crows & Power 13/14 Off Season
Polec has announced today that he wants to go to Port Adelaide.
As an Adelaide fan I'm not so phased by that. Hopefully now that he's out of play they can focus on closing some other deals.
Talk of Podsiadly meeting Adelaide today as well. I think there must be a 'coaching' element to their interest - wouldn't be surprised if they want him as a mentor to the young Adelaide forwards.

I couldn't see what all the fuss was about Polec.
Obviously both Port and Adelaide rate him, but is he that good?

I guess nobody really knows as he can't get on the park that often.
Almost taking a punt like a rookie.

Re: Crows & Power 13/14 Off Season
Crows have offered Podsiadly a 1 year deal with the option to transition into an off field role at the conclusion of his playing days.
A few opinions floating around that he has great value in coaching/mentor capacity as I suspected.
I initially questioned this potential deal, but I'm starting to see the merits of him being on the list.

Hear also that he has a sports science background too.
Reckon he is going to be a better forward-line mentor to Jenkins especially (Lynch, Johnston & Co) than Bickley who never was a forward, nor a tall one at that.
Jenkins could be anything with his leap, strength, marking ability and decent kicking. What he doesn't have yet is the footy smarts to know where to run when off the ball. Pods could be hugely beneficial to him.
Good call I reckon.

The Age is reporting that Bernie Vince is on the verge of signing with Melbourne for pick 20.
A solid deal for both parties. I do have a soft spot for the lad though, would be sad to see him go.

Podsiadly deal is done according to the Club. As I said, I doubted the move initially but coupled with the benefits he can deliver off field I think it's a good call.

Good on him, and he's snaked a 2 year deal not 1.
It has been mentioned, but his 32 year old body may not have taken the battering that other big forwards would have over a 13 or 14 year career.
So the Pods rollercoaster ride of emotion juggernauts on and he trades stripes for stripes.

Bernie Vince to Melbourne was confirmed late yesterday. I feel quite sad about this one, but I think it was the right move for both parties.
I hope the new environment will be the shot in the arm Bernie needs to finally realise his potential. Apart from his Club Championship year he never quite got there for Adelaide unfortunately.

They are - but then again, all the possible Brisbane deals are still at a stalemate.

A bit disappointed Adelaide missed out on him, but the way he shopped himself around left me a bit dubious. Might be a blessing in disguise, he still has a lot to prove yet.
