Telstra Big Pond doubling internet download allocations for free..
I just checked my usage for the month and noticed Telstra have doubled my download allowance from 50 gig a month to 100 gig a month.. thought it was a mistake so i did some research and found out almost all Telstra internet users get free double download.

Sat behind a white truck today
The back of the truck was covered in dirt and dust
Someone printed a message in the dust with their finger
The writing was
* I wish my wife was this dirty.*
I get the feeling the driver may not have been aware of the writings

I've seen that message many times over the years, i always have a chuckle & haven't been game enough to yell out ''she is but you don't know about it''

ALDI store opening at Parafield Gardens.... just drove past around 8.30am as it's just around the corner from home and the place is packed. Looked like the premier and a lot of big knobs there in font of tv cameras.

Gotta laugh. All this for a supermarket. Is everyone afraid they'll run out of food!

Well, Mrs Firstblood decided to go for a walk and have a look..got there, turned back and headed home. The line up to get in was about 300 meters long... also the council is raking in big bucks with parking tickets galore. They erected temporary no parking signs down the side streets.... crazy.

Re: What's Hot
Interestingly the same thing happened at Costco when it opened and people were lining up to pay them $70 sight unseen just to go into the store!
Still the Costco membership is not a bad deal if you fill up at their servo on a regular basis.
I think ALDI will be good for Adelaide, Coles have been cutting name brands and pushing there "you'll hate Coles" brand to get people onto Generic brand stuff, so no doubt ALDI will do well targeting those same people who want to buy their own brand of stuff. That said I did hear that Siena Foods at Regency Park has had to put more staff on in their plant because of the increased orders with ALDI making them one of their preferred suppliers for deli items which can't be a bad thing for the state!

The Aldi opening craze is pretty similar to when Costco, Krispy Kreme and Ikea opened. Even the open day for the airport had shuttle buses from West Beach and the City (that was my last trip on a Brown Bomber - well white bomber as they had been pained white by then). It'll quieten down in the next few weeks, particularly as more stores open.
I've shopped in Aldi's interstate before and they're fantastic. Bought a 1.5L bottle of water for 60 cents for the tennis, which, along with the free refill stations at Melbourne Park, was a great little investment. Can't wait to do a full shop there, probably save a good $30-$50 a fortnight.
I went to Costco with a mate (who is a member), and for me whilst their clothes are cheaper, their groceries are at best the same, and at worst, slightly dearer than Coles and Woolies, and I wouldn't recoup the membership fee.

I wont agree with the Costco thing Brucetiki thats your right .
I think buying stuff in bulk works out cheaper than buying from Coles or woollies and foodland . I buy gerkins at costco a large jar guess its a caterers size costs me around 6 bucks just under , costs more for a smaller jar at the other supermarkets . I bought stuff capers from woollies last week small tiny jar cost me the same as the large jar of gherkins . I guess you need to know your prices their clothes cost too much for me when ive seen them .
Aldi i cant wait to have a look but distance from my home devalues it just yet .
It does raise the issue of checking prices i cant mention my employer . Im lucky get 25 percent off of products i walk up the road from one work store to the opposition store products cost a hell of a lot less .
guess you just gotta check things out

Re: What's Hot
Visited Aldi today
Packed
Took about 15 minutes to enter, were about 50 lined up in front of us
Bought a few items that were inexpensive
Bananas 99 cents a kilo
Some brands of food and products Ive seen seen when shopping before
Hopefully they measure up to my palate
Interesting to see the check out girls were seated
Beats standing up all day at a check out counter
For those living on that side of town , I would say if they continue with the inexpensiveness , then well worth shopping there

Just scored an interview for a job with a large metro council that would be a significant promotion / pay rise if I jag it!

Thanks mate.
Nearly double the wage I get now, plus car etc.
Of course I would have 130 staff to look after instead of the 13 I have now, but, you know, minor details.......
Just knowing you're good enough on paper to even get an interview for a gig of that calibre is great for the confidence anyway, whatever happens.
