Travelling overseas
Enlisting help (again...lol)
I have never had the 'travel bug' - I'm quite content sitting here in little old Australia doing all my travel.... however... A Daughter does have the travel bug and she's planning on going overseas in July - which is freaking me out because it's not far away..lol.
Now don't laugh at me being 'travel dumb'
lol - what I ask of you guys is... what does she need to do in preparation.
1) Passport
2) Travel Insurance
Should she get any injections/immunisations against anything?
She is planning on going to America.
Thanks in advance

She won't regret it, A Mum.
She won't need any vaccinations for America, but don't even think about going to America without the best travel insurance she can get.
Obviously she will need to get a passport well before she goes -apply at any Post Office, I think.
Once she has that, she will need a visa for the US. That's easy to get. All of this can be done online, but for a first trip, she should go to a travel agent.
Depending on what she wants to see, I would really recommend she doesn't just go to the cities. There are great things to see in the National Parks.
I've been to the US many times and have driven thousands of miles there, so I'm happy to help with any info at all.

If she intends to drive while there, she will need an international driving permit, the application form is available online, I am going through the process of getting one myself at the moment..The cost is $30.00.
I agree with r&b regarding insurance, do not hold back on that, medical costs in the USA are enormous.

They say it's necessary, testy, but it's not.
I've bought them before. Not necessary.
I've been stopped in Colorado by the police ( routine stop). Australian licence was no problem.
Finished up taking a photo of all of us with the police car

Hindmarsh Island on that list? You could have been overseas 4 times if so.
Technically, this means I now live overseas. After all, it is a different culture here with our two-heads and everything...

Re: Travelling overseas
Well she's been, gone, and back again.
She survived....lol.
Regular facebook updates and pictures made me not stress !!
She had the time of her life and is already planning next years trip.
She loved New York - and Times Square - pretty lights and all at night.
