This is the thread for salary cap discussion.
West - have confirmed breach and they claim it is
mainly due to no injuries.
Norwood - have denied breach - watch this space.
Anyone else? Watch this space.

Re: Salary Cap
I'd need to know what the breach was supposed to be before I can comment. I know how Norwood structured their salary cap for 2012, and they still had room to include Ed Lower should he be available to play.
I'd be very surprised if Norwood were involved, but as I said, I would need to be informed as to what the breaches are .... if any.

Re: Salary Cap
Two clubs named so far.
Club number three is watching very nervously, and aware it won't be long before they join Norwood and West.

ETTG, you're the one naming Norwood, what breach have they committed?

Re: Salary Cap
West have issued a statement relating to the salary cap.
MEDIA RELEASE - SALARY CAP
22/11/2012 10:47:47 AM
The West Adelaide Football Club regret to advise it has breached the SANFL salary cap regulations. At no stage was our salary cap breach intentional. We prepared and submitted our player contracts at the start of the season on the same basis as previous years using certain assumptions which turned out to be incorrect. A complete declaration of our player contracts were fully and transparently disclosed to the SANFL at the appropriate time early in the 2012 season. We take full responsibility for this outcome and apologise to our members, supporters and the SANFL football community for the unintended breach.
The Club understands the South Australian Football Commission will be meeting early next week to discuss the matter and will make no further comment until the Club has been advised of the Commission’s decision.

Chief Executive Officer

Doesn't breaching the salary cap only mean one thing?

Yes and no, usually there is an area where clubs can stuff up, coaching fees for players etc.
Anyway, stand by for a press release informing the public that Norwood signed off on the salary cap 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. Also, a retraction may be forthcoming from Triple M.

By that I assume you mean Norwood submitted its player payment report and they reported being under the cap, not that the SANFL have accepted it as 'fine'?

Re: Salary Cap
I mean Geoff Baynes signed off on the salary cap in the presence of an official from the SANFL who also gave it their tick of approval.

I don't think that's the end of the matter though, is it.

Re: Salary Cap
Then what are you saying? I've said the salary cap is a dead issue so far as Norwood is concerned, which it is, but you appear to intimating that I'm not telling the full story .. or something

I'm saying that I'm hearing the issue isn't as dead as you believe it to be.
