I remember changing in that room back in the early 70s. We had to run out, across the car park, up the mound, down the terrace, then jump the fence to enter the ground

Question R&B, when was the past players' room built? Was it there when West began playing at Richmond in 1958?

AH, I can answer that question, My father helped build it.

He is now 82 years old and says it was either 1947 or 1948. The rooms were built as change rooms for the Cowandilla social club football team who he played for. This was the only building on the property at that time, no grandstand, no fence around the oval and no mounds around the oval.

Westies moved to Richmond oval in 1958 to make it there home.
