Re: Former Glenelg Footballer King Hit
A sad and unfortunate by-product of country football at times. In a terrible irony, former Glenelg player Justin McConnell was also attacked on field some weeks prior:

two players in about a month...not good for anyone at all, these thugs should get plenty in suspensions & make it obvious that these cowardly acts will not be tolerated....glad to see Billy taking legal action etc

CK, i can tell you as of last sunday Justin is still not able to eat solid food & i believe he's seeing a lawyer as well......this is amazing his club has to pay $1,000.00 for that league to open an investigation into it, not sure if this was done or not but surely an investigation should have been automatic

It's one thing to hear about it - but it's another and quite shocking when you actually see the x-ray showing the break.
Just play footy people

Re: Former Glenelg Footballer King Hit
I actually gave footy away at an early age because of this precise thing. I was lucky in that I could play basketball, and I became so fed up with getting belted when I wasn't involved in the play.
A long term injury, courtesy of an idiot in a ruck contest was all the excuse I needed to toss it in. There were then, and are now, too many thugs playing the game for all the wrong reasons, and I applaud Neely's action.
It's time something was done to allow ball players in lesser grades the confidence to just play footy.

Re: Former Glenelg Footballer King Hit
why would these intentional blows happen ?
i can think of only 3 reasons why anyone would king hit blokes & none of these reasons are valid
in no particular order...
1, to have a 'name' for hitting an ex league player
2, the injured player is just too good for the opposition so 'someone' decides to 'slow him down'
3, because idiots (apologies to the nice idiots out there) think they can belt someone on a sporting arena & get away with it
there is no doubt that everyone has no problems with accidents but not with sniping king hits, it is just a low act that shows the mental ability of the sniper

You've overlooked another aspect Bayman. That some people lack the ability to handle conflict without resorting to crude physical abuse. I guess in a way we should be pleased that footy keeps them off the streets.

fair point but it'd only keep them off the streets for 2 or 3 hours at a time
