Interested to hear from Port fans about what they think of Cockshell?

IMO he left South because it was too tough mentally and physically for him and he banged heads with the coach.

His playing weight of over 105 kg was just too much to be able to perform consistantly at league level.

He has been of some value to us this year.

He is still, IMO, a little heavy but hey, he's a big guy who still manages to cover the ground and get the job done.

It hasn't worked as well as we would have hoped, Im sure, with Thurgood, Wilson and Cockshell/Meiklejohn in the forward line.

With Judd Robson as back up I thought our big man department would see us finishing higher on the ladder.

He doesn't seem as fit as the season progresses as he is at the start?

Perhaps you can blame Adam’s weight problems on sight and hearing losses.
There’s a rumour he went to South thinking they said Pan Fries, not Panthers.
Maybe he then misread the Port contract. Magpies / Meatpies. It’s pretty close.
At least Adam can’t be led further astray until the Dogs are hot again !

Thought he would be going alot better at Port than he is ATM.

Pretty disappointing the way he left South but that's history now.

Ron Fuller is tough as nails so if he was not 100% committed then he would have been let go.

I expected better this year from him anyway but is the "fire" still in the belly with him ??? That is what is needed to be asked by the Port selection committee .

100% commitment has never really been Adam's forte. Very handy player though, and I've seen Port a couple of times this year when he did well, I think he kicked 5 goals one day.

Why did he leave South Adelaide?

He and his wife had their first child and they bought a house in Alberton. Cocky just couldn't commit to the training and travel requirements at Noarlunga for 3 nights a week and then on weekends.
Port sounded out his interest and the rest is history...

He does enough to keep getting picked for Port each week, motivation seems to have waned for SANFL in general, good opportunity though for Port to put the right people around him and re-light his fire, he has played some very good footy over his career and could well hit back to that form on any given week, I suspect that is what the coaching staff see in the lad and are doing their best to get it out of him.

No sour grapes from this South supporter at seeing him at Port, he gave South several good years and moved on because his heart was not in it anymore, I appreciated his honesty and was happy to see him go because we dont want that problem back of players not being 100% committed to the jumper and I would rather them break a contract and leave than return the club to that again.

I am not sure if we traded Cockshell for Watson or what the deal was for both of them to sway clubs, but am very very happy with the way Watson is developing as a footballer on our League List!
