Horse Racing..
I know there's a few on here that follow a little bit of horse racing whether that be gallopers or harness-
And who can go past Black Caviar at the moment - she's becoming an Australian Icon...lol.
And also Melbourne Cup will be upon us before we know it - so thought I'd start a special 'horse racing' thread

Anyway...
Who stayed up and watched Black Caviar's race just after midnight?
I thought she had been beaten - I wasn't as convinced as those calling that she had 'got there'.
Probably like many others I watched in bewilderment as Nolen started to ease her to the line - thinking OMG those horses are catching her - then to see him ask her to lift again in the last few strides - to which she did to win. But I sat there wondering what Nolen would be having to say about his 'brain fade' (His words..lol). Then I found myself feeling a little sorry for him - fortunately he 'woke up' in time to get her across the line. I'm sure things would not have been good if he & she had of lost.
But oh well - doesn't matter now - the history books will say nothing more than Black Caviar won her 22nd race in a row and by a small measure.
I now sit and wait in anticipation of what her next race holds for her.

Re: Horse Racing..
Good idea, A Mum.
I used to follow the horses a fair bit many years ago and raced a pacer as well, but haven't been very interested for a long time.
I look forward to contributing and I'm sure many others will too.
As for Black Caviar, Luke Nolen will be a very chastened man today, but it could have been worse.
The ABC website was a laugh, though.
They posted up an obviously pre-written story about 'another dazzling display;, with no mention of the photo-finish or how the race was run
It's been changed now, of course.

Re: Horse Racing..
Another couple of metres and she would have been beat all because of Luke Nolan's habit of not riding her to the line.
It's ok to do it when she is well clear but last night was a much different race than she usually runs, BUT she got there and that is all that matters. 22 out of 22

Looks like we may never see her again.
Will be along time before we something of the same ilk again.

IMO A fitting farewell, if that's the case.
