Norwood v West Friday May 12, 7.40 Coopers Stadium
West fans will be thinking Norwood are due to drop one. I suspect the Legs will be up for this one, seeing it as an opportunity to put an upstart of a team back in its box. Statistically Norwood and West have the best defences, but West can struggle to score for longer periods.
West are versatile up forward though - they've stretched Sturt with height and then surprised Port by going shorter. It'll be interesting to see which way they go this week. Norwood seem to be able to counter most things at the moment though.
Is Pfeiffer a chance for the Legs after only getting 1 kick on the weekend? Newton got 6 and Still got 7 in the Reserves for their respective sides and will come under consideration.
A top of the table clash in the U18s on the Saturday too, which should be a cracker.

I hoping like hell we win this one but I just can't see it happening. Norwood by 22 points.

Former skipper James Gallagher to potentially make his comeback this week, in the reserves?

If Gags plays this weekend, and I suspect he will, it will definitely be in the reserves. Nathan Batsanis has his number 4 these days, so Gags will wear number 5.

What are your thoughts about him coming back AH? Do you think its fair on the lads who did the pre season slog?

I think if he still feels he has something to offer, and Bass is happy with the idea, then I have no problem with it.
Just because he was last season's captain, he is no guarantee to play in the league team. Aish will be playing in the U18s championships and if we lose other players to the AFL or injury, then he may be a handy acquisition.
However, midfield may not be where he plays. I could see him fitting into a defensive role. At times I've thought when Gags was captain he tended to demand the ball when there was a better option. As such, at times we played too indirect.
It's up to Gags to show he has what it takes to contribute to (hopefully) a successful team.

There is never any decision to play an attacking or defensive style.

There is always a game plan R&B and West will either play the straight down the middle attacking one or the flood and very defensive one. If we play the attacking one we will win.redandblack wrote:There is never any decision to play an attacking or defensive style.

Once again, according to this forum, Norwood goes in as the underdog

Norwood or the horse ?
Norwood yes at points presuming it's less than 5 goals & the horse is well graded but i feel that it could get caught in the death & from the draw i'd be on 7 or 8

ok, fair enough
well the horse 2 will lead & i very much doubt he'd hand up the lead to Hearts of Elise (or anyone for that matter) & this would bring the undoing of Bryce's horse......if the unbelievable happened & the 2 handed up the lead then Hearts of Elise would be very hard to beat in front

Big Game for Westies this week. I think its going to be a tough assignment against a side that has shown
itsw class in the 1st 6 weeks. Norwood to win this. I hope West play attacking football as they did against Port.
Wests midfiled needs to stand up and players such as Slattery if he plays there and Beech who are running through the midfiled need to really stand up and find the footy. Would have Fielke tagging Batsanis

Re: Norwood v West Friday May 12, 7.40 Coopers Stadium
You have to wonder if AFL clubs pay any attention whatsoever to SANFL form. Last week Flipper was sadly out of touch, couldn't find the ball all night, and this week he's recalled to the Power.
Still it could be a similar case to last week where he is left out of the Power squad and plays for Norwood .... naming only 20 reserves players would indicate this may happen.
This is the downside to playing Friday nights, you don't know your final 21 until just before the match. It was always the plan to run Gallagher in the ressies this week to see how he pulls up. Good to see Juice lining up once more in the senior side after his 6 goals last week.
