The WWTFC can announce that Scott Lewis will retire at season end.

Growing up in Loxton, Scott came through the West Adelaide Junior program progressing quickly to League Football. After trying his luck at Glenelg for a couple of seasons, which included a Reserves Magarey Medal and a short stint of country football, Scott was enticed back to SANFL ranks at the start of 2010 by long time mentor and newly appointed Eagles Coach Michael Godden.

Since his arrival at the Eagles Scott has had a significant impact at the Club. Instantly becoming a staple of the Eagles midfield, Scott’s lethal left foot has been a weapon for the Eagles team for the past decade. An Eagles Club Champion and a Premiership player, Scott has achieved it all.

His list of achievements is testament to his standing in the game. They include;

204 SANFL League Games
2014 WWTFC Club Champion
2010, 2013 WWTFC Runner Up Club Champion
2008 Reserves Magarey Medallist
2011 League Premiership Player (WWTFC)
2007 Reserves Premiership Player (Glenelg)
2004 Under 19’s Premiership Player (West Adelaide)
2002 Under 17’s Premiership Player (West Adelaide)

On his time at the Club Scott said, “I have really cherished my time at the Eagles. I never thought that when I first came across to the Eagles that I would spend a third of my life playing for such an amazing club. I have met lifelong friends, amazing and loyal supporters and people involved in the club that genuinely care for each other. Because of this, my journey at this club has been one to remember. I truly cannot thank everyone enough for how I have been treated in my time here.”

“I wouldn’t have become the player or person I am today if it wasn’t for Godsy. He has been there from the very start. Coaching me from 16 years old until the end of last season. I can’t thank him enough for what he has done for me on and off the field. My family and I will be forever grateful. One of my highlights that I will never forget is the premiership in 2011 which was my first and only at league level. I want to wish the club all the best in the future as I know there will be much success to come.”

“I feel it’s the right time for me and my family as Kate and I have welcomed into the world our little girl Hazel, who I am looking forward to spending a lot of time with. I want to also thank my family for all their support and to my parents who have watched every one of my games travelling from Loxton each week. It is a privilege to put on the Eagles guernsey and one I have never taken lightly. Lastly, I would like to thank my wife Kate for her continued support and all the sacrifices she has made for my football.”

Eagles CEO Luke Powell said, “Scott has been an outstanding contributor to the Eagles over a long time and will continue to be so for the remainder of the 2019 season. Scott has achieved a lot in is time and should be very proud of himself. I thank Scott for all he has done for the Eagles and he should look forward to an exciting next chapter ahead in his life with Kate and Hazel.”

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes Scott, Kate and daughter Hazel all the success and happiness that the future holds. Scott will play in his 205th game this weekend, his last home match at Maughan Thiem KIA Oval. We hope to see a big turn out on Sunday to send off one of the champions of the Club.

200 games is a huge achievement anyway, but having to find a third club to do it at is more remarkable.
