West Adelaide Financial Situation

Reported at the Sturt AGM that the profit for the year was $715,000.

An extraordinary figure given recent history.
Not sure of its breakdown, but I think people pretty pleased with that.

That is incredible. They were all but gone a few years ago.

That's a great result, well done to the Board, Sue Dewing and all at Sturt.

The result would include $250K from the SANFL and perhaps a very large payroll tax remission. To be indulgent, West did a huge amount of work on the payroll tax situation. It was about grouping provisions, which while technically correct, would have been a very unfair retrospective impost on several SANFL clubs. I presume other clubs would have made submissions, but West spent many hours of research and put up a very detailed submission. We received a fair hearing from Revenue SA and the Government and the good result flowed through to the other clubs.

It's great to see SANFL clubs who were struggling become self-sufficient.
