league life memberships
as i posted Luke Jarrad has achieved league life membership with his 200 league games & most of them were pretty good
i pose this question should the games played be shortened to 150 games now ?
i think it should be discussed as now we're down to an 18 round home & away season (might be 22 rounds but you know what i mean) & to get to 200 games without finals or injuries gets you into a twelfth season, is that too much to ask these days ?
well done to Luke & the other award & merit award winners

Congratulations to Luke.
I'm hoping a West player will play his 200th this year.

Personally Bayman I would stick with the 200 games, life membership is something special and for people that have gone above and beyond in service to their club and 200 games is a good marker for that!

If a player plays
50 SANFL games
150 AFL games
Should that player be entitled or considered for a Life membership ?

Re: league life memberships
Up until the 1970s League Life Membership was 100 league games and 10 seasons of league football. The player also had to play 3 games in the 10th season. It was then changed to 250 games when players were playing 27 and 28 games a year including Escort/Foundation/Ansett Cup games. When these competitions basically folded it was reduced back to 200 games.
There are so few players accruing 200 games now that I think that 150 games should be the benchmark.

50 sanfl games is too low.
150 sounds about right. That's 7 seasons or so. That is a reasonable contribution for today's comp.
