Matador cup O.D.D.
Today is the first day of the tournament which includes the Australian players who were named to tour Bangladesh, sadly it isn't on tv (today at least)...the 'half time' scores are......
Queensland all out 196 v Tasmania
Western Australia 4/350 v South Australia
New South Wales 3/338 v Cricket Australia X1
we've already had 4 centuries in the 3 innings played, they are......
C. Bancroft 176
S. Marsh 109
N. Maddinson 108
S. Smith 143*
not sure i like the C X1 concept, i'd rather Canberra back in it

If Head brings today's form into Thursday's game he could score a triple century on North Sydney 'oval'

Not on TV last weekend, was disappointing
Not having any games at Adelaide Oval is disappointing
Playing on Primary school sized ovals is disappointing
That playing all games in NSW is disappointing
That NSW has some sort of advantage being the home state is disappointing
ADVANTAGES ?
Playing a carnival like this in one area is akin to playing a World Cup
This would condition players if picked for International duties
Exposure on small grounds , which you will get in some other countries
DISADVANTAGES ?
No day/night games
Some 10:00 starts , which can favor teams bowling first on dewy pitches
QUESTION ?
Do we need this schedule?
Australia has won the most ODI World Cups under the old format, did we need these changes ?
I ask the question even though a 2014 Matador Cup campaign led into a 2015 World Cup win for Australia

Re: Matador cup O.D.D.
Well done by Travis Head
Brilliant cricketer as was his name sake Lindsay Head who played state cricket for South Australia
Lindsay Head , from what Ive read and heard, was a brilliant hitter of a cricket ball , as is Travis
Lindsay Head gave up a potentially brilliant cricket career to focus on SANFL football
Travis Head does not have that choice of codes , and could be anything
QUESTION ?
At the coin toss , what would Travis call ?

Re: Matador cup O.D.D.
The only good thing about the CA XI's inclusion is that it'll mean the Rednecks will avoid another wooden spoon. I reckon we could get 11 TFSA posters to form a side that could beat the CA XI side.
The carnival format is farcical, and at the moment, pointless. It was to create a World Cup feel, but the next World Cup isn't until 2019. Lets bring back the home and away format and bring the games back to the people.

Game 2
Head 0
Ferg 1
Ferguson[113] now averages more than Head[101] in this tournament
NS 9/266 [50]
SA 110[31.3]
Perhaps the best 2 players in the Matador Cup dominated
Smith 72[83]
Smith is a run machine
Starc 4/27[8.3]
Starc got both Head and Ferguson out , he is an exceptional bowler

Re: Matador cup O.D.D.
Starc still getting wickets although NSW who seemed to be cruising to victory today but ended up losing to the Vics, i was on the cricket Australia site this morning & the live commentary said it was a green top, going on the scores you'd think he was right but the pitch looked very good on the tv....................
an amazing thing happened today & while it is possible it has happened before i doubt it & that is the first 6 NSW wickets were all dismissed LBW

presuming the redbacks beat the CA X1 they'll be playing the winner of the Vic/Tas match in the preliminary final on Friday with that winner playing NSW on Sunday in the grand final

Redbacks' after an early collapse this afternoon against Victoria made 7/250 (Ross 97*) & the star studded Victorian line up all out 194
so the much MALigned team now takes on another star studded team in NSW on Sunday in the grand final
good luck to the Redbacks' in Sundays Grand Final
ps, the last Grand Final i watched the red and black team won
