HAY LIST
The horse that may be best known as the horse that ran a string of placings behind the champion sprinter Black Caviar , has died of Laminitis
28 Starts
15 wins
6 seconds
Hay List still managed to win 15 races from only 28 starts
4 times it ran 2nd to Black Caviar
Was unplaced at its last 5 runs
So at one stage it had the great record of 23 runs for 15-6-0
How stiff was this horse that it had to race against Black Caviar as often as it did

What a great horse he was, had he raced in another era he would have been hailed as the best sprinter going around but to come up against Black Caviar, what more can I say. Let's not forget he always carried more weight than her.
He hailed from WA and won his first 8 races before heading east and became BC,s greatest rival
Fairwell you champion.

What was the best city track ?
My order
Cheltenham
Victoria Park
Morphettville
When they had the flats at the races , it was the most enjoyable times for me at the tracks
Victoria Park was the best flat
Take the BBQ , esky, football, cricket ball cricket bat etc to the venues, and whaddaday

I can assure all of you IT WON'T HAPPEN' and that's from a very close friend in the racing game, what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing.
The cost of setting up Vic.park for racing again would cost millions of dollars which the SAJC doesn't have and the State Govt. aren't going to come to the fore.
We have two tracks at morphetville to race on (the inner and the outer) and to even think that after doing away with Cheltenham they would spend mega bucks to set up another track is nonsense.

Liberal party wanted Vic Pk closed.
labor don't appear interested and clearly have no funds
vic park would make a better social environment.
The xmas meetings twilight at vic pk were hugely popular.

Re: Thoroughbred Talk
funny i spoke to a gallops trainer today & he's taking a couple of horses over the border soon just to give them a change of scenery rather than train & race at the same place, he thinks it'll keep them fresher mentally rather than getting stale being in the same place

Vic pk could be the venue for teletrack or whatever it was called to be based in the riverland.
straight track for the gallops
put in a straight trotting track
straight dog track

Great story Bayman about a truly great horse.
I have one to equal that in the modern era of racing and that is Shogun Lodge who was around in the late nineties until his untimely death in 2003 in the Emirate stakes ridden by G Boss.
Shogun Lodge was trained by Sydney trainer Bob Thomsen who was the strapper to arguably the best middle distance runner Australia has ever seen in Tulloch. (Have a look at his record).
Shogun Lodge was second 12 times in group one races and came up against such champions as Sunline, Northerly and the great Lonhro. His earnings after his untimely death was $4.6 million.

Re: Thoroughbred Talk
I for one would be thrilled if the Vic Park course was used once again for racing.
The city now comes alive every weekend for AFL, the Fringe and Clipsal draw people into the CBD and there's no reason to suggest that the horses circumnavigating the track at Vic Park would be any less popular.
Sure, we won't get 50,000 to an event but we sure as hell would get more there than they do at Morphetville.

But where would all the glamour joggers and poodle walkers go? Has any thought been given to them in this proposal?
For the love of god gentlemen, take a moment to spare a thought for these people.

All jokes aside, I have read somewhere the Adelaide Football Club are being sounded out as a possible partner in some sort of development at Victoria Park.

You'll get no argument from me Booney, I'm sure if you ran the numbers to find the AFC's 'spiritual home', the eastern suburbs would be it. Haha.

down to 6 hurdle races in town next season.....i think if they ban it they may as well ban show jumping as well, if a horse DID NOT WANT TO JUMP IT WOULD REFUSE TO, trust me they do refuse if they don't want to jump

Re: Thoroughbred Talk
I will guess there are more horses that die in flat races over a year than what do in hurdle races throughout the racing season so I think that flat races should be banned as well.
Seriously, this comes up every year by the hairy armpit brigade and the tree huggers.
