forgetting that, just because it hasn't been done before doesn't mean it shouldn't happen & be a usual formality in years to come, it reminds me of when Terry Wallis Bulldogs decided to warm up on the oval rather than in the rooms, now they all do it & it is possible they same could happen here

Think its a good move, its a time of year when a number of lads are training with the club and could do with an opportunity to prove why they should be picked for the clubs list. No Cricket at Richmond makes it the ideal venue also.

The right timing ( perhaps a Saturday twilight ) the right weather ( not 37° + ) and you would think Westies could pull 500 or more to this, if they market it to the SANFL community in the right manner.

Lee, perhaps they/you could promote it as "The SANFL's Xmas party" ?

Lee could dress up as Santa?

Friday December 12th ... starts at about 6pm, and one game only (no reserves game) with 4 x 30 min qtrs. (i think)

Be a great night for supporters of both clubs to get along for a few quiet beverages, Christmas catch up with club mates etc if they haven't already got something on.

Myself personally, I can see no benefit to either club of playing a trial in December, what is it going to prove......

i agree, hopefully it doesn't happen but if a player is seriously injured & misses a large chunk of the season (or more) then this idea will be scrapped forever...................as a marketing toy, they should play on New Years Eve & have a New Years Eve party after the game

My view is that the best training you can give a young player is game time. Even intra club trials can be a good option here.

I don't think this has been done as a marketing tool.

More likely that Mark Mickan and Michael Godden think it will be a good chance to practice new strategies and look at new players.

Have heard the Eagles will be fieldinig as full strength a team as possible...

Might head down to Thebby on Friday night and have a look...
