General 2014/15 Off Season Discussion
Just starting a general thread for off season discussion.
I'll kick things off by talking about the Beams situation. I don't like how it has become the norm for a player to 'nominate' a Club to which they want to go to.
It basically means that their current club gets held over the barrel in trade discussions and has to accept unders or risk letting them go for nothing via the pre-season draft.
Don't like it.

Get used to it, I'm afraid.
One thing I will give the players in this situation ( Beams, Ryder, Clark ) is if they choose to negotiate a "win" for the club they are leaving. Plenty of players will move one year before free agency eligibility to at least give their current club a leg up.
If this becomes and unwritten rule ( for instance, Dangerfield gets Adelaide a top 10 pick and a quality player from another club this year instead of leave for nothing next year ) its a good thing IMO.
We'll see.....
Anyone keen on Port at $5 for the flag next year?
What a joke.....here, have my money for 12 months on a whim....

I'm not keen on Port winning the flag at any odds personally.

More to the point, who would be betting on next years AFL premiership right now?
It's simply absurd to think that you would give a book maker your money for the next 12 months with so many unknowns still to eventuate.
Trades, coaches, injuries, suspensions etc etc etc ........

I doubt whether anyone would be Booney at this early stage and if anyone is they are fools, there are far too many things that can go pear shaped.

Daniel Gorringe reportedly looking to head back to SA. Early talk was Port his preference.
Joel Patful looking to head into Sydney. No side nominated.
Melbourne picks 2 and 3 for Dangerfield.
All of this trade talk can drive you mad!

Will one club looking to part ways with a coach announce a shock replacement that nobody has speculated on anywhere in the media?

A lot of punters do their dough there in that case. Thompson will be announced at Essendon shortly.
The Suns may pull off a shock move, though, with their coaching choice.
