State games
Spelly, I think Westies wouldn't have had 5 starters in a state side since the 60's and maybe not even then.
Do you know?

Re: State games
I don't know actually, it's been something I've wanted to do, a list of every player in the state matches. I have 1990-1991 then 2000 onwards, and I can only see two at the most in them.

Yes, I know it's been a long time.
I recall West supplying most of the State backline early in the 60's, but nothing much after that.

I think West had 5 players in the 21 which beat Victoria at the MCG in 1963. Kerley, Bray and Eustice were in the 18, a very young Robert Day was 20th man and Ron Benton was 21st man. I know that it is technically only 4 players in the team, but West were without 5 players that day. I think that North played West at Adelaide Oval and North won something like 6 goals 6 to 5 goals 2 behinds and I was thankful West had so many out. North had 3 that day in the SA side, Hammond, Barbary and Don Lindner who was 19th man. Don would have had to have been almost the best 19th man in the history of state football. Possibly only when Russell Ebert was 19th man in about 1974 would have their been a better one.
