I have updated this table as of this post, because Simon Dean has been added to the list - he played one match for West as a 16 year old in 2004.

That raises an interesting topic, and that is the biggest gap between first and second games. Does John McInnes hold that record or did he play more than one game as a 17 year old?

Also the other allied topic would be biggest gap between SANFL games. Ben Hart had a 15 year gap and Josh Francou almost 10 years as did David Robertson, I would be interested in those details as well. I guess with the advent of the AFL it would happen more often.

Simon Dean's first game happelned in unusual circumstances.

He started the day playing in the Reserves. There was a late unavailability in the League side and Simon was withdrawn from the Reserves game and played the League game.

So his second game last week was the first time he'd been selected and played.

I remember that happening to Central player Simon Luhrs, back in the early 90's. Lurkha was playing in the Reserves and Hugh Reimers, playing League that day, had a car accident (wasn't seriously hurt) on the way to the game. Luhrs played about a quarter in the 2's then fronted up in the main game later that day...

Updated to Round 16. If Matthew Duldig can get a game with Sturt, that would be 22.

If Daniel Caire plays (I think) 16 games this year, he'll reach 200, the first for West for many years.

The last one might have been Greg Mellor?

Mark Beswick or Spelly will know.

I'd guess about 192, Bayman.

One of my very favourite players. Sad to see his career end short of the 200. Not one of Westies finest hours.

I still keep in regular touch with Tim. A funny bloke and a very good player.

thanks Lee, you mentioned Mellor & i thought that Tim Symes must've played around the same number, just not quite high enough though, agree he was a good player & thanks again
