West Adelaide 4-0 to start the season

The first time since 1998 that West have been 4-0 to start the season...it has also happened in 1909, 1911, 1954, 1959, 1961, 1968, 1983 and 1989.

However, just once has West been 5-0...1911, when on the way to becoming the Champions of Australia, they went 10-0.

It's the first time since 1983 West have been the only team undefeated after four matches...then believe it or not, lost to Norwood!

We aim to please

In 1983, West Adelaide won their next two matches after the Round 5 loss to Norwood. Then came the Rick Davies show in Round 8, when he kicked 15.3 in Sturts' win of 29.16 to 17.14.

This year, West Adelaide in Round 8 (and also their 8th match) play...Sturt!

It gets better...West won three more in a row after the Sturt loss, then in Round 12 lost to Glenelg.

And this year in Round 12, West Adelaide play Glenelg. However, the similarity in matches to rounds stop when West have their first bye in Round 11.

West won all their remaining matches in 1983 with the exception of the last round - they lost to West Torrens by three points, 15.22 to 17.13.

They played the Eagles in 1983 in the last round....

Then won the Grand Final
