Tracking your team - West
Plenty of outs, a few ins, salary cap breaches, financial problems. Can the Bloods go one step further.

Re: Tracking your team - West
Outs are:
Ryan Willits
Brad Fisher
Ben Fisher
Fort Caruso
Nat Caruso
Marc Borholm
Scott Blesing
Ins are:
Travis Tuck
Brad Mangan
Ryan Anderson
Daniel Webb (from PAFC Rookie list)
Given the salary cap breach, 5 well paid league players out means we can only add 2 well paid ins, plus Daniel Webb.
Overall, though, that retains our strong backline and adds a good midfielder and a versatile forward/onballer.
We will also probably not see as much of Brad Crouch, so the progress of several younger players, including Rankine, Homburg, Bonney, Schiller, Westhoff, Kirk, Anderson and others will be crucial, together with the best of our juniors, Johnson, Dijksman, Middleton & Co.

I think when you are talking ins you must also include the fact that we have retained Ferguson & Tippett who most seem to feel were going?

Keeping Ferguson and Tippett was key, in my view, to laying the foundation for a successful 2013 season.
While the departures will all be missed in some way, the gains are genuinely impressive and, as mentioned, there are some younger players coming through who should be much improved next year.

Something in me still feels there something left in the whole Kurt Tippett saga.
If hypothetically, Tippett (Joel) got rookied to Sydney, you would think he would go. Maybe, just maybe part of the Kurt deal was getting Joel there too. This has been floated previously.
Do we know if he has nominated for the draft? I guess we'll see soon enough.

He has withdrawn from the draft and will be with Westies.
He's been at training.
Credit to him.

OK didn't know that.
I think that was part of the rumouring a few months ago.
Is his back now all good and in full training?
It was said it could have been career threatening.

Has he withdrawn from the PSD as well R&B? I know he said he won't take a rookie spot but I thought the door was left open with the PSD?

Re: Tracking your team - West
There seems to be a theory that somehow West were lucky to finish 2nd last year. I'm not sure why, given that West beat their competition easily in the finals, bar Norwod, but beat Norwood during the year.
I'm not sure which other teams had more claim?
We're being written off in some quarters yet again, but will start with an excellent defence, a fairly settled side and a couple of potentially good recruits.
Ruck depth looks thin and we obviously need to kick more goals, but I think only injury will see us drop much.

A very poor result, to say the least.
They've embarked on a massive cost-cutting exercise and other measures to stay viable, but that result is disturbing.

West's losses are very disturbing, reportedly about $507,000, reduced to a 'cash loss' of approximately $286,000 after depreciation.
Since then, their cost-cutting would have saved about all of that much on a yearly basis, particularly through salary cuts alone.
Their cash flow looks terrible, as has been well documented, but I believe there are one or two new major cash inflows to look forward to, so their position should be back to manageable before long.
What must happen is that it doesn't happen again. One more result like that would be a total disaster.
The financial results will be published today, and as a member I'm looking forward to going through them in detail to see just how bad the position is.
