NBL
I was only able to watch the last 6 or 7 minutes playing time of the 36'ers game.
I swithched on and they were 5 points up.
Lost by about 14.
Are they serious?
Can a basketball fan explain why they don't seem to have an import, please?

i would only guess that finance would be the answer to no import, i'm sure Basketball gurus like CK will have the answer, the 36's of recent years reminds me of the Redbacks shield teams of the last two decades

I watched the second half.
They're not a very smart team, are they?
Have they ever scored on the last play of a quarter?
Is Massingale injured?
Is it compulsory for Weigh to play the whole game?
Is Creek injured?
Something is wrong with this team.

Haven't had a lot of luck with imports in recent seasons.
I don't rate Marty Clarke as a coach at all. I don't know why they keep persisting with him - probably cause they can't afford to pay him out.
But who cares about the 36ers when you're a Wildcats fan! Now, there is a quality team!

I'll give you that.
But why can they knock off the big teams and slump so badly to teams 'below' them??

Same post needed after watching them lose another unlosable game.
Weigh, 43 minutes for 9 points.
Cadee, more turnovers than points and can't make a free throw to ice a game in several attempts.
Creek gets half Weigh's time and scores 15 and looks athletic.
They are not only a dumb team, but a smartarse team, million dollar behind the back passes to nowhere and giving up rebounds from freethrows.
When was the last time they won in overtime and what would their record be in recent years?
LIsch = leadership and good decision-making. We had no leadership and pathetic decision-making.

Re: NBL
Dont start me on the Adelaide 36ers. I could fill a page with my perception of where the organisation - not just the oncourt personnel - is at, but a few random thoughts:
- The coaching panel is, at best, guilty of highly excessive faith in too many players who fail to deliver. Part of the failure can be attributed to a near complete lack of direction from said coaching panel also. Some of the plays they are given are unsustainable with the current group, to be very generous.
- The playing group is one of the best assembled there for some years on paper, although is a little tall at times. Melbourne had a similar issue last year with a very tall roster and paid the early price for it. A couple of genuine smalls with speed - of the ilk of Gary Ervin - are the type of player needed, but seem to be ignored by recruiting staff when planning rosters.
- Product marketing continues to improve there, with TV and press ads, but all of the marketing in the world won't help with the style of play from the group, which takes less focus off defence and more onto attack. This is absolutely fine and reasonable, but the group simply isnt scoring highly enough to defend the large opposition scores they cough up.
- Club cannot possibly complain about lack of press coverage. Many of their games have been on free to air TV under the Network Ten/ONE HD deal and some of those performances have been the worst. Advertiser columnist Boti Nagy would probably like more free rein to say as he wishes, but if rumours emanating around the traps about the club making noises about negative coverage are correct, then it leaves a real risk of the organisation simply being told what they want to hear.
If any organisation wants to succeed, they need to hear the truth at times. The truth is, the coaching panel isn't working at present and has been given more than enough time and resources to succeed. The season is almost gone, in terms of the chances of making playoffs, if we arent careful. Unless the organisation wants attendances to keep falling each week to hitherto unseen levels at Adelaide Arena, the time has come for action.

Re: NBL
I disagree with the marketing part CK. Their marketing department is absolutely disgraceful!!!
I won 2 competitions that they held during the course of last season. Both times, it took me months to chase up my fricking prizes after many phone calls and emails. I also bought items from the online shop for my wife (God knows why she still supports them) - they never arrived. But I never got a phone call or email from them saying that they were out of stock or there were problems with the manufacturer. Again, I had to do all the bloody leg work and chase things up.
No wonder they're broke. They don't know how to appease the everyday basketball fan.
36ers are one of the WORST organisations I have ever dealt with and it reeks of incompetence. Stuff them I say.

Not to mention the price of tickets - silver tickets start at $27.50 for an adult or $10 for a kid, which is one of the highest base prices in the competition. No wonder crowd numbers are in free fall.

In other news, the 36ers lost to Townsville again tonight (2 of Townsville's 3 wins for the season have been against Adelaide). The loss made worse by Mitch Creek rupturing his achilles - and now out for the season.

Have a read of this:
http://www.craveonline.com/sports/articles/201691-player-points-cap-fails-the-nbl-again-in-massingale-move
It may read like 'he said vs he said' but IMO it shows why Marty Clarke should be sacked as 36ers coach.

Re: NBL
Unbelievable. Just when you think they cant get any worse..........
What a rabble.
Weigh plays nearly the whole game again, nearly as many turnovers as points.
Cadee, lots of minutes, 1 of 4 and 2 assists.
No leadership, no idea.
They are seriously in need of a new coach, and I'm not usually one for blaming the coach, but thi9s is just ridiculous.

Basketball SA should never have been forced to relinquish ownership to private owners. Rann & Foley were jerking off to their new public transport scheme instead of saving an SA icon.

Looks like even Today Tonight are after the 36ers administration.
For those that attended the Townsville debacle the other week and saw the guy that nailed the shot from half court for $5000, it looks like the club is allegedly not paying out the $5000.

When I saw the article, first thing that sprung to my mind was your post about your dramas dealing with them.

Ken Cole is based in the US nowadays and has serious ongoing medical issues that would prevent this.
Not sure that going back to Phil Smyth is the right idea either. An experienced coach is certainly needed, though. Someone along the lines of Ian Stacker is what the club needs right now.
