Grand Final omens Empty Grand Final omens

Post by C.K Sat Oct 06, 2012 8:35 am

With my various media roles, I have been to well over 60 games this year in various capacities.

An oddity emerged early in the season and has been one of the most unusual omens around, yet has proven surprisingly accurate.

At each and every game, the first player I have bumped into, their side has won the match in all but THREE of the games I have covered.

The times it did not come true, was Central v Sturt at Elizabeth (a carload of Sturt players were alongside me at the same time as we both entered the car park, Sturt lost convincingly); West v South at Richmond (Nick Liddle was also parking alongside me - South lost that night by one point); and last week's Preliminary Final (Nick Amato was next to me in the car park).

Even at games where there has been a raging outsider, in all but three of these matches, the team whose player I encounter first has won.

Will be very interesting to see how tomorrow transpires. As one league coach quipped when I mentioned it to him, he was just going to get his players to follow my car one day in that case.

Probably be a West player.
He won't just bump into him, he'll probably shirt front him - out cold! Laughing

Unfortunately, when I arrived at the ground at 10am, I didn't have internet access on my phone, but feel that Norwood's victory was sealed when Kieran McGuinness arrived at the same time as me Smile

I did pass this to Redandblack and a number of other supporters who have been asking the question for much of the season, when the omen was first apparent. West fans immediately looked despondent, while Norwood fans appeared to have a fresh spring in their step immediately

AAMI Stadium is a mobile phone blackspot. I've always had trouble with mobile broadband coverage at AAMI regardless of whether 7000 is at the ground or 47000, yet I had no trouble at the MCG the other week with 69000.

I guess with AAMI Stadium only having 12 months left of mass usage the telcos will see no point in fixing this.
