2012 All Australian Side
The team was named last night as follows:
2012 ALL-AUSTRALIAN SIDE:
FB: S Dempster (St K), L McPharlin (Frem), D Glass (WC) (Captain)
HB: B Waters (WC), T Richards (Syd), G Birchall (Haw)
C: T Cotchin (Rich), J Watson (Ess), D Beams (Coll)
HF: P Dangerfield (Ade), L Franklin (Haw), C Rioli (Haw)
FF: S Milne, (St K), T Hawkins (Gee), D Cox (WC)
R: N Naitanui (WC), S Thompson (Ade), G Ablett (GC) (Vice-captain)
I/C: B Deledio (Rich), J Kennedy (Syd), S Pendlebury (Coll), D Swan (Coll)
Several terrible calls in my opinion - Nick Nat in lead ruck? No room for Maric or Jacobs on the bench even? Rioli barely sighted before the midway mark of the season but still gets a gig? Franklin in despite missing nearly a 3rd of the season with injury? The Pav ahead of Hawkins? No room for the Coleman medalist?
One of the worse All Australian sides ever picked I reckon.

Naitanui over Jacobs?
A triumph of style over substance.

Same could be said for Rioli/Hawkins over Pavlich.
The selectors have definitely been blinded by the razzle dazzle this year and have failed to reward consistency.

Glen Jackovich was on the AA committee - I think that explains alot about some of the 'selections'

Sam Mitchell very unlucky, in conjunction with most of the names mentioned above. Kieran Jack also an odd omission.

As an Adelaide fan I actually think Jacobs deserved selection before Dangerfield.
Different players in different positions I know, but for consistency Jacobs wins hand's down.
Dangerfield has had a breakout season no doubt, but he would be about 50/50 for games that he really influenced I reckon. Jacobs on the other hand would have been a heavy influence n at least 75% of Adelaide's games, probably more.

Mark Ricciuto was on it as well. Gerard Healy as well I think. Jakovich, Ricciuto and Healy, what a group of media meatheads
I just want to say I detest the concept of the AA team almost as much as I despise the Brownlow Medal.
For me, the AA team lost credibility in 1991 when not one member of the premiership team made the AA team, not even Paul Hudson who kicked 62 goals from a HF flank. The two players on the flanks had kicked 21 goals between them!!! Then there was 2007 when 9 players came from the same team.
What is the point in this team? Why single out 22 players as the very best in the competition? What does it achieve? No matter what 22 players you select, you won't please everyone. Every year there are cries of outrage by people because their favourite player was overlooked for ... (God forbid) .. someone in another team!!!
One thing is certain, the 22 players selected all had terrific seasons, but you wouldn't know it when you hear people carrying on. All this team seems to achieve is having good players publicly humiliated. In another forum, I even read that Buddy Franklin should be in the team because he'd played only 1 good game for the season!!! This guy obviously thinks if Buddy doesn't kick 13 goals, he's had a poor game
Then, out come the statistics. Player A had 27 less kicks and 3 less tackles over the season than player B, so therefore he must have had a worse season.
