Re: Adelaide
He's a restricted free agent - which means as long as Adelaide make an offer that Carlton cannot match, then there's no trade required.

Very true, looks like Carlton lose out this time around and the AFC finally win one back!
In retrospect, this new rule could benefit the AFC and PAFC with the sheer number of experienced SA players running around in the AFL who may well wish to return home, its a pity the rule was not in place when the Crows first went after Pavlich!

Got on the bandwagon and became first time members
Very excited about that.
It's normally me that's dragging 'A Dad' to the footy - but he was the one who suggested tickets !!
He likes the whole 'Adelaide oval concept'
Bonus that they offered memberships that you could pay off monthly - so no big 'whack' in the pocket.
Also tickets being fully transferable means if we don't go the kids can.
Can't wait for 2014 season even more now

Shame to hear about Van Berlo doing his injury, I keep thinking back to Shaun Rehn and how he did his in the Pre Season and wonder of the worth of the pre season cup. Clearly Van Berlo's situation is different in that it happened in training, yet it is a set back for the lad in any event. I got to watch him play for South Adelaide when he was with us in the SANFL and working his way back from injury and he is just a stellar player and one to keep your eye on in the future IMO, but I guess he gets to be a specator for a lot of this season sadly enough.

Ricky Hendersen may have broken his leg at training this morning.
He was only training because he missed yesterdays NAB Challenge match.
Fell to the ground in pain after being tackled by a team mate late in this mornings session.

Confirmed fracture. Bugger. Still, will be half way through his recovery by the time the season proper starts, so he may still feature in the second half of the season yet.

Talk is 16 weeks Ginge, with up to 12 before he runs. Should be playing SANFL about mid-season so yes, you could have him back later on.
A bit of a loss for you blokes I think, his ability to play tall and small and he seems pretty calm under pressure, just the type you need running out of the back half.

I think we can cover him - but yes, I think we have lost some versatility and speed with him out now.
I can't remember him having an uninterrupted season since he's been at the club to be honest. In danger of becoming one of those talented players who never realises their potential due to weight of injuries.

Interested to see what Adelaide do with Jenkins,McKernan and Graham this year.
Clearly Podsiadly take the pressure off Jenkins in the forward half and Podsiadly can ruck the forward 50, while Tahlia can do the back half if needed.
There's no room for Walker, Jenkins and Podsiadly in the front half so does Jenkins get a regular berth?

All depends on injuries really. In a perfect world there's not room for all of them, but as we found out last year a bad run with injuries changes everything.
It also depends on how Walker comes back from injury. Knees are nasty things, we all hope he comes back as good or better than before, but there is a chance that this may not happen.

Re: Adelaide
Jenkins and Lynch are both coming back from injury too, which complicated things and possibly gives McKernan a even chance of starting the season in the 'A's.
My rough guess at a round 1 forward line would be:
F: Betts, Podsiadly, Porps
HF: one of half a dozen midfielders, Jenkins, Lynch
Bench: McKernan
What clubs in general will do with their bench this year will be interesting.

I would play Johnston somewhere in that lineup, maybe play him instead of McKernan. Maybe Lynch to start on a wing?

Re: Adelaide
Sanderson seems to be very keen on versatility this pre-season, so I expect the most versative players to be the first ones picked.
Lynch is very versatile, has a big tank and could play further up the field as you say brodlach, and even down back.
I think Johnston could be used in a similar fashion also.
McKernan - jury's out. Has played down back a fair bit in the SANFL.
Graham is nothing more than 'big man' insurance TBH, I can't see him getting the call up unless Jacobs falls over.

Jacobs, Jenkins, McKernan then Graham, if required. Graham won't get a look in again this season and should be heavily investing in superannuation.

I think Sando was aiming for Henderson to play that predominant HB role, enabling Smith to be released into the midfield.
As Ginge said though, I think he can be covered, and only hinders flexibility.
