Surviving the US Election

This could be somewhat worrying, but I will be in NYC when the US election takes place on November 8.
Not by choice - just circumstance of timing.

Everyone tells me that is really exciting. Me, I am not so sure.
Looking for interesting tips on how to survive the frenzy!

Catch the train in and walk the city , a great experience

Watch out if the card sharks are still about
They would show you one of 3 cards
They would rotate 3 cards on a table and ask you to pick out that card - and bet against them
They were too good for me
Playing against these dudes in the back alleys of NYC is not recommended
Losing back then means I get to post about it 35 years later

Thanks, I am no card player so will steer clear of them.

Maybe a hounds tooth jacket could help with the Woody Allen look.
Cap, Bad hair, coke bottle glasses may help too.

That raises an interesting angle.
Several million years for the island of Manhattan to form and only 2000 years for it to be obliterated.
The writers must have predicted Global Warming and sea level rising exponentially.

I was trying to think of a football equivalent to what the Americans have done, i.e. replace Barak Obama with Donald Trump. The best I can think of is that it would be like Western Bulldogs supporters thrwoing out Luke Beveridge and instating Sam Newman as senior coach.

Decided not to join Kong at the top.

Back safe! Survived the US election.

Was walking along 5th Avenue when the Democrat protesters marched to the Trump Tower.
There were 6 large D(Tr)ump Trucks lining the pavement outside the building acting as a security barrier if someone wanted to throw in a Molotov Cocktail or something. Cops everywhere including some carrying automatic weapons.

Probably be a case of watch out for radical Democrats now.

It is very very odd the way the American politics carries on.
There is almost not an economic policy in sight.
It all about trash the crap out of your opponent for whatever sniff of a reason you can find.
How these accusations are not considered slanderous is beyond me.

I think the US has made a rod for its own back that will come back to haunt it in the reasonably short term.

Interestingly, one lady who helped us out with directions on the Subway in NYC, was a Democrat volunteer.
She said even in a Democrat town like NY, Hillary was not well liked. But there was no way she was going to vote for Trump.
"An evil man" she called him.

When you analyse how this all went it just about boils down to the bigger cities being Democrat (with their larger number of electoral college votes) and rural America being Republican. The swings toward Trump in the marginal to safe divisions made the difference.

The US dollar has dropped 4c in the 2 weeks since the election.

I think it would be more like Mark Jackson or Robert Muir.
The difference is bigger than the Beveridge/Newman disparity.
