Don't judge a book by its cover
Just over a week ago, I went on a day tour of Istanbul with Jenny and only 5 others, as the travel warnings had kept 95% of visitors away.
The other 5 were as follows:
A couple from Melbourne, originally from Sri Lanka:
A young girl in a hijab, her mother and grandmother, both in full burquas.
Good company and in conversation, the mother, quite a young lady, told us she'd worked in Melbourne and was an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist.
On the plane from Istanbul to Malta, I sat next to a very nice young woman. I asked if she was Muslim (she lived in Istanbul). She said yes, as she drank her white wine.
Now I'm in Lipari, one of the Aoelian Islands off the Sicilian coast. Wonderful place, fantastically friendly people.
Travel broadens the mind.
