James Cagney was the first choice for the movie
But Errol Flynn got the part

This is a letter that has appeared in the press

DRESS YOUR AGE
Kylie Minogue , start dressing to suit your age
See-through lace slops were well and good 20-plus years ago but not on a mature aged woman

I think this letter has gone in excess on the matter

" I wont be defined by age."
" I'll wear a leather skirt, even a bikini, if I want to."

By Joan Collins
Who has told the press she would wear a bikini
Even though she is 80 years old ...

No thanks

In the movie The Desperados [1943]
Starred
Glenn Ford
Randolph Scott

The 2 great men had a fight in this film
To my surprise Glenn Ford won the fight

Glenn Ford name in this film was Cheyenne
The Hotel in this film was called Hotel Bonanza

TV shows in the decade after this film were
Cheyenne 1955
Bonanza 1959

Just a coincidence ?

Todd Rundgren was the brains behind the Meatloaf brawn I think.
Wonder if Meatloaf is her Godfather?

Screen Quotes and Quirks - Page 3 Empty Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

How good is this quote from Liam Neeson in the film "Taken".

What made me think of it, is You-Tubing some of Graham Norton's shows the other night which had Neeson being interviewed. The funny thing about it was a lady in the audience (big fan of Neeson's) who remembered him from his first ever role. Anyway, she volunteered her mobile phone to Norton who got Neeson to deliver this monologue as her answering message. All delivered totally deadpan.

How would you react to receiving that message if you rang her?

Maybe not so funny as it was in the show. I was in hysterics.

Screen Quotes and Quirks - Page 3 Empty Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks

Post by bayman Mon Oct 20, 2014 9:17 pm

this is off screen quote, but i'll copy & paste the story behind it, it is about director Sam Wood..........

Wood was a conservative in politics. He testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. Groucho Marx, who worked with Wood on A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races, once called Wood a "fascist"[3] and was furious about Wood's racist comments about African-Americans.[4]

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Groucho's appearance in 1972 at Carnegie Hall with Dick Cavett, Cavett related on NPR's All Things Considered (May 6, 2012) that Groucho was not a fan of Sam Wood. Allegedly,

Wood in frustration said to Groucho, "You can't make an actor out of clay", to which Groucho replied with his lightning wit, " ... and you can't make a director out of Wood!" Laughing Laughing Laughing

here is the wiki page for Sam Wood

THE UNKNOWN MAN [1951]

It was a murder trial of a griff young man
The DA was the impressionable Barry Sullivan
The Defence lawyer was the articulate Walter Pidgeon
The DA was long odds on to win the case
However the masterful Pidgeon won the seemingly unwinnable case

BARRY SULLIVAN
Lost the case but he was at his classy best when he had this to say to the eloquent Ann Harding [ Pidgeons wife]
" The morning gets more beautiful."
A typical Barry Sullivan line
Barry Sullivan one of the most entertaining actors on the black and white screen

WALTER PIDGEON QUIRK
The QUIRK in this film was Pidgeons acting part
Pidgeon played the part of Dwight Masen!!!!!!!!!
6 Years before Raymond Burr played the TV part of Perry Mason

EVIL WOMAN
The movie is called Saving Silverman in America , but Evil Woman elsewhere
Starring a couple of Amandas
Amanda Peet
Amanda Detmer
I thought Amanda Detmer was Amanda Seyfried when I saw the film

Anyway back to the film
You would think a movie named Evil Woman would star The Electric Light Orchestra
Well here's the quirk
In the film was Neil Diamond !

Ok, thats enough
The film and Amanda Peets low cut tops is worth watching
