" It was a very interesting stage in my life
When I got drunkenly engaged to someone one night and that lasted 3 daze, until my Auntie shoved me back, put me on a bus, sent me to Australia."
By
Bojana Novakovic
At the time in Serbia
Real fun actress
Migrated to Australia as a 7 year old in 1988
Was a dancer, but drew inspiration from Grace Kelly to become an actress
The ride to stardom had its moments as from this quote
" I got fired from stacking boxes in a Health Food store"

Humphrey B Bear, the fun loving bear is up for sale
According to New Idea , the asking price is less than a million !
Humphrey Bayman Bear is 51 years old
There has been talk that Humphrey could make a comeback from hibernation
Would that be a boo boo or might it be successful ?

Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks
During the making of the movie The Train Robbers
Starring John Wayne and Rod Taylor
Here are separate conversations between Rod Taylor and his business manager Murray Neidorf
Both giving interviews , both at different times and places
Interviews being inter sorted
It starts of with Rod Taylor on John Wayne
TAYLOR
He was overjoyed with not only my company , he respected me as an actor and all kind of things , he said some very nice things , he loved beating me at poker , especially on the set where we played this stoopid liars poker
NEIDORF
Rods a very creative guy, he is a great actor, he could do a lot of things but he is a terrible card player
TAYLOR
I never won and I hated it
NEIDORF
Wayne hustled him in cards and then the next day Rod called me up and said you got to write a cheque to John Wayne for $2000 , I said are you out of your mind you stoopid Australian son of a bitch
TAYLOR
And I went down to his house in Balboa island and he was down there with all the trophies on the walls
MURRAY
We sent the cheque to Wayne ...
TAYLOR
I looked at one long framed thing on the wall it was full of my uncashed cheques framed on the wall where he beat me at poker and I payed my debts and he said thats from Taylor
Haha he loved it
Rod Taylor and John Wayne were in many many movies
The Train Robbers was the only time they starred together in the same movie

HOWARD KEEL
Was born on this day 13/4/1919
Born in Gillespie , this actor singer reached dizzy heights in his career
In the 1950s his publicity peoples 'leeked' out that his surname was Leek
Which indeed it was , he was born Howard Clifford Keel
Keel once made this quote
* You get your ups and downs but you just dont fall apart. You take another shot at it.*
There is something slightly quirkish about that quote
Ups and downs
You have another shot

BONANZA
Ive recently viewed these 2 episodes on Fox Classics
ELIZABETH MY LOVE [made 1961]
This mornings episode shown on 1/6/2016
Adam is sick, Ben tends to a life and death situation
The episode shows flash backs on how Ben met and courted Adams mother, Elizabeth Stoddard
TO BLOOM FOR THEE [made 1966]
This episode was shown in May 2016 on Foxtel
Hoss falls madly in love Carol Attley , and wants to marry her
The parts of Elizabeth Stoddard and Carol Attley were played by the same actress , Geraldine Brook !
In 1961 she was Bens love , by the end of the episode Adam was born
In 1966 she was in a relationship with Hoss
Perhaps Bonanza should have been named Family Ties !

Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks
Went to the Martin Scorsese exhibition in Melbourne today. It was very good with a lot of his personal memorabilia on display and audio commentary on the tour.
What it highlighted is just how many of his movies I either haven't seen or haven't seen for a long time. Something I will correct over the coming months.
I also didn't realise that so many of his movies involve themes of;
- New York - he is a native New Yorker and grew up in Little Italy
- Religion - he grew up in a Catholic environment
- Failed Heroes - a lot of them have many character flaws
Also that De Niro has been in 8 of his movies and he has other faves like; Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel and Leonardo Di Caprio.
His latest effort "Silence" isn't due for release until December but it is featured in the Exhibition.
His anti-hero Travis Bickle (De Niro) uttered that immortal line "You talkin' to me?" in the 1976 classic "Taxi Driver" which launched Jodie Foster into stardom as a 12 year old prostitute.
If you get a chance when in Melbourne, have a look at the exhibition. It's on until September at Federation Square.

Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks
Movie : The Artist [2011]
Its a 21st century film and dubbed up as a silent movie
Lead acting part was George Valentin[played by Jean Dujardin ]
He is married to Doris [played by Penelope Miller]
Valentin is smitten and overwhelmed by a part played by Berenice Bejo
Get this though , so we have
George Valentin [Jean Dujardin ]
Doris Valentin [Penelope Miller]
Peppy Miller [Berenice Bejo]
So we had an involvement of Penelope Miller and Peppy Miller

The Bad video was covered in the exhibition along with other things he has used musically in his movies.
The Rolling Stones "Shine a Light" movie is one.
Apparently Scorsese has used the song "Gimme Shelter" 3 times in his movies.
There was a case of his 45s that he acquired starting during his teens. Apparently he had bad asthma and didn't go out much as a kid.
Music was a big part of his early life.

Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks
SULLY [2016]
Starring Tom Hanks
Hanks pilots a plane that is hit by a flock of geese, has engine problems, and crash lands on the Hudson River , fortunately no casualties
Really, WTF is going on ?
Firstly how did Hanks have a pilots licence?
His track record in particular with aircrafts is diabolical
1986 EVERY TIME WE SAY GOODBYE - he was a RAF pilot shot down in North Africa
1990 JOE V VOLCANO- he wanted to jump in a volcano
1995 APOLLO 13- an explosion on board his space ship
2000 CAST AWAY- involved in a plane crash in the South Pacific
2004 THE TERMINAL- trapped in an airport with an invalid passport
2013 CAPTAIN PHILLIPS-hijacked by pirates
2016 SULLY
With his flying record , who had the gumption to let him be a pilot ?

Re: Screen Quotes and Quirks
Captain Phillips was a ship. True story (as was Sully)
Apparently the crew of the ship didn't really buy into Phillips methods.
So maybe he shouldn't have a ship's licence either.
Also "Catch Me if you Can" 2002 - he couldn't catch Leonardi di Caprio chasing down a plane.
As poor as his aerial skills are, I love Tom Hanks acting. Makes an ordinary movie shine a bit brighter.
Saw Sully last week. Clint Eastwood directed it and for a "disaster movie", it was edited quite differently. Almost like they chopped up the script, threw it in the air and put it back to together.
Looking forward to Hanks in the next Dan Brown instalment in "Inferno". Read the book early this year. Quite a yarn and puts an interesting slant on population growth.

Catch Me If You Can
Was a catchy song by DC5
DC5 not as in a Douglas DC10 plane of the 1940s
But the DC5 of the 1960s, The Dave Clark 5
Agree Tom Hanks flying record is iffy
But what a versatile and brilliant actor
He has had a BIG and wonderful career
My 3 votes for Hanks movies
3rd : Sleepless in Seattle
2nd : BIG
BEST : Forest Gump
I have not listed any of his aircraft movies as best on ground
