CYCLEGATE
Continues  in the press

CAMPLETOWN COUNCILLOR
" Bikes on footpaths is just crazy stuff
It is so dangerous having cyclists on footpaths and I will push to have them banned because I am getting emails from people saying they have nearly been knocked over by cyclists
Cyclists want everything their way , but if there are bike lanes on the roads near footpaths , I dont see why we should allow them to ride ion the footpath."

BIKE SA EXECUTIVE SPOKESMAN
" The existing law, which allows allows anyone to ride on footpaths , is a very sensible one and ensures we are consistent with the rest of Australia
Surveys from our membership show the ability for people to ride on footpaths encourages more people to get on thier bikes
It is of concern that a local councillor would seek to inhibit peoples ability to get more physical activity in their daily lives."

I can see both point of views
Safety or fitness ?

Should health insurance providers be nervous ?

If you ride on the footpath as an adult you need to look long and hard at yourself.

People walking or jogging on a footpath are also getting physical activity. It is probably easier to encourage people to go for a walk then buy a bike. You would probably make a better case that increased bicycle use on footpaths discourage pedestrians from getting exercise, particularly the elderly or those with young children.
Putting a speed limit on cyclists using the footpath would help.

POLITICAL POSTERS

Its time
Its poster time on streets nation wide
On the poles for the poll for political parties

There is a MP who says posters should be banned
This is what Wakefield MP Nick Champion
He said he was yet to meet a person who is influenced by them

POLL
The Advertiser ran a poll on posters
559 responses
In 3 days
515 said ban posters
44 said its ok to have them

87% of that poll want posters banned

DETESTS
I know of one person who detests them
He wont vote for the party/parties that have multiple signs up in protest[take note Nick !]

QUESTION
Should posters be banned ?
Do they make a difference ?

With the laziness of some incumbents in safe seats, it's probably the only way most would know who is actually running prior to an election. And you don't see the minor parties up there much.

I don't really care either way.

I would rather see the posters than seeing the pollies kissing babies and speaking cr@p on staged TV shoots.

At least the posters don't talk, so they have that in their favour.

In these days of social media and 24 hour news services, I really don't think they're necessary any more.

Why do the liberal party stand there and refuse to take the signs down when they were legally ordered to .
Just seems whether state or federal liberals just do what they want .
Don't tell me I'm a labor voter I worked out there is no difference between rich labor and rich liberal

Press report
Names excuded

* Use of radar by police for detecting speeding offences in SA was re-introduced yesterday after the sets were turned off the roads for 3 weeks.
The Police Departments 2 sets were removed from use on November following a judgement by Mr R L B - SM. in the GC Police Court on November in which he said the sets were not effective or accurate
In a 26 page judgement, Mr B dismissed a speeding charge against Dr F F T, 50, physicist , of ...
It is understood that a possible appeal by the Police Department against the judgement has been referred to the Crown Law Department.*

There are disputes as to the authentic speed readings of radars
This particular dispute was in November

for the ride in the 8am range to the city with the new bus lanes on Anzac Highway is a complete joke, i now travel a different way into the city, the average journey used to take me about 25 minutes it is now just over double that & therefore as i said i've changed the way i go into the city, furthermore it is an accident waiting to happen, every morning cars would cut in when realizing they were about to enter or indeed already in the bus zones.....all the powers at be have to do is widen Anzac Highway to 4 lanes both ways & having the left lane as buses only & only cars turning left can use it at all times.....btw a driver was pulled up every day i went past in the shops opposite the Keswick barracks so its been a good money spinner for the Government

They've just had a segment on ch 9 with a AAMI back study of the worst roads for accidents in each state, while it surprised me in Adelaide the worst road is The Parade at Norwood

Why is it that if a driver goes past you quickly, that driver is an idiot

Why is it that if you get held up by a car presumably going slower than you want, that driver is also an idiot

Can these two be compared?

Basically, the analogy from that amounts to everyone is an idiot except oneself.

Essentially adopting, "I am the centre of the universe" theory! Very Happy
