Forecasting
When weather forecasters talk about winds of between 20 and 25 knots, that means nothing to me, I have no idea how strong that will be. If, however, they said there will be winds of between 5 and 6 goals, I'd know exactly how strong they'd be and would be able to better prepare. I propose all wind forecasts be in terms of goals, not knots.

Might confuse the yachties!
However, perhaps flatulation could be rated in goals.
I know a few people who can kick 10 in 30 minutes.

I'm totally with you, Flag.
It seems an eminently sensible suggestion.

Hard to argue 'Flaggy'. Yachties love various knots. Yanks still love m.p.h. So why shouldn't the breezeFlag No.9 wrote:When weather forecasters talk about winds of between 20 and 25 knots, that means nothing to me, I have no idea how strong that will be. be measured in potential goals for Aussie Rules officianadoes.
As a bit of a boatie I can tell you that 1 knot is nearly 2 kph. Around 1.85 kph I believe.
For the old school that means 1 knot is about 1.152 mph. Hope that helps : )

Re: Forecasting
Even after many years of working with aircrew I never did get used to knots.
Us ground based troops usually found one of these far easier to use and a lot more reliable too
...and NO the blue sky wasn't photoshopped in
