This is a primarily a football site, threads on other topics are just meant to provide opportunity for light hearted discussion.

Politics is not a topic that is conducive to light hearted discussion. It was worth a trial but really the discussion was too robust IMO for what this place is meant to be - an online community of like-minded SA footy followers.

Ultimately the sideshow shouldn't detract from the main game. I think the moderators made the right call.

If you want to talk politics BC, find a forum that's about politics.

I didn't start the politics thread - just contributed. Posted linked stories about politics and pulled up people when they made incorrect claims. Now those claims have been proven to be incorrect the original poster got personal and now has deleted the thread. Got to love a democracy.

If you think the discussion to too robust for you don't read it - Not that anything I wrote in there was offensive, I don't see how people can view it as too robust.

I enjoy all the threads on this site and enjoy my time in here, I don't wish to be posting on multiple threads when 1 will suffice.

So in other words you are saying that the political discussion has ultimately been a negative experience for you.

Therefore as I said, the moderators have made the right call.

Still plenty of other places to discuss things - feel free to pop into the SA in the AFL forum and give your thoughts on this weeks game.

Problem with politics is that it often is a matter of interpretation of statistics. Just because you are a "glass half full" person it doesn't mean that the "glass half empty" person is either stupid or 100% wrong.
Probably 70% of voters are rusted on to one of the major parties and will never change allegiance. These are the ones who will blindy accuse the other side of being wrong / corrupt / stupid/ incompetent etc etc regardless of the issue or the performance of their side. (Bit like footy really except politics doesnt have an umpire we can all blame ).
Which is why most politics threads end up being closed. They start out as debate and discussion and end up as diametrically opposed people trying to drown out the opposition by shouting from their soap box.

The statement I am referring to was 100% proven wrong by cold hard facts in the ALP budget Huey.

Should I and TD not challenge an incorrect statement? Plenty of my posts have been challenged and I either admit I was wrong or explain why I think it is correct - No dramas, it's a shame when people are too precious that they can't be shown an error in the judgement/statements and a thread has to be shut down because of it.

and btw, I have never called another poster stupid or any names IIRC.

Give it a rest, bc and please don't make false statements about why a thread has been closed when you don't know.

Stopped in at Bensons Radiology at Salisbury at 8 am for an x-ray, came out and the battery in my car was as flat as a ???

A short walk to Super Cheap Auto on Salisbury Highway and $129 later i was back on the road. Not a good way to start the week.

My cousin having a massive heart attack, dead at 38. Two small kids...

When you hear of a young person going suddenly like that it certainly gives a reminder to live every day like it's your last, because you just never know what could happen.

I'll try and put this as I would if we were face to face talking about it.

He was never a picture of health, in fact, he has been morbidly obese since his early teens and despite this he lived a pretty "normal" life. I'd say most of the family knew it would one day be to his detriment. Very sad to go so young.

Origin Energy botching up my electricity bill again - this time they've tried to pull off an estimate on my off peak energy usage - even though the peak reading was an actual reading, and I have gas hot water so therefore my off peak meter is sitting at 0 (it got replaced a couple of months ago, and reading of the old meter was marked as an actual read on the bill too).

Feeling pretty low at the moment TBH, things just aren't going as planned.

In a world of pain this morning. Slept at some very awkward angles last night after my little daughter decided to take up most of the bed, and then BANG my back went out this morning taking the rubbish out.
