Cartoonists Empty Cartoonists

Post by Lee Sat Feb 23, 2013 1:14 pm

Valdman is without doubt the worst cartoonist I've ever read, but I thought he wouldn't be so silly as to depict the PM being shot (even with a 'bang' sign instead of a bullet) as he did this morning.

Hopeless cartoonist, no subtlety at all.

Who do you enjoy as cartoonists?

I bought 'The Essential Leunig' a few weeks back. Brilliant! (But I've always loved his stuff).

Yes, Leunig is great.

He's been around for a long time now.

The previous Advertiser cartoonist - Aitcheson I think his name was - was brilliant.

Valdman is like a work experience kid learning the role, and I believe he is quite young in political cartoonist terms.

He has probably done 2 or 3 that were approaching Aitcheson's standard, a lot of the others were cringeworthy.

Generally, I think the cartoonists nail the political situation far better than the journalists, whatever side they're taking.

Fred Quimby would be the greatest cartoonist of all time without a doubt
